The usually fluffy, pearly-white clouds angrily changed their form to a worrisome, thick gray essence of what was left of a bright and sunny day. Before long, a heavy downpour was making its way into view, with even the droplets seemingly carrying some weight.
Lassi sighed from within the beaten-up, tiny wooden cottage she had lived in. She needed not to look out the equally beaten-up window for her to hear the now rumbling of thunder overhead.
Her home was in, obviously, pretty poor quality; from the irregularly-shaped, hastily stacked wooden planks, to the several cracks of ranging sizes on the window pane.
At this point, she was very much wishing she had been like her brother; a handy little kalon who could fix anything that needed it, or her crush, whom she had observed to be very patient and mature when placed in uncomfortable situations. But she was neither, in fact, closer to the polar opposite of the two of them than ever.
Stop it! she mentally snapped at herself. If she was watching, you’d be pretty embarrassed right about now. It was quite a bad idea to even be thinking about her crush in the first place.
Finally, she squeezed her pillow. It was all she had, and she could somehow feel the aura of subtle memories almost physically refreshing her brain. She remembered how her parents had given her this pillow for her birthday, and how she had carried it around for almost a whole year. She remembered the countless nights sleeping on it, whether it be an innocent, clear night, or storm-filled ones such as this.
