Heronfeather is what humans would call as aromantic asexual. He is just simply incapable to feel romantic affection towards anyone. When he was younger he felt really confused why were all of his friends slowly falling in love one by one, while he just never seemed to be interested in anyone ‘that way’. They always said that one day he will find someone who’s right for him and that he just needs to be patient. But nothing happened. Time went on and most cats his age are already starting a family. Heron started to question if something was wrong with him. What if he’ll never be happy being alone? Then one day he befriended a beautiful she-cat called Brightstream. You could often see the two chatting after the morning patrol. She was kind, sweet intelligent and obviously was head-over-heels for Heron. Everyone thought she and Heron would be perfect for each other, however the tom wasn’t sure how to feel about this. She was nice, yeah, but he liked this as they were at that moment. Finally giving in to peer pressure he became mates with Bright. Maybe that’s what he needs? Maybe he will be able to finally fall for her over time? But no matter how good was the she-cat to him, he always felt uncomfortable during romantic walk through the forest or nuzzling each other under the Great Olive Tree. He feels so guilty, because he feels like he is using her, despite trying his hardest to be there for her. Now he sort of accepted that will never fall in love with anyone and he wishes he could talk about this with Bright, he isn’t sure how to make her understand that it isn’t her fault and that despite not wanting a romantic relationship he deeply cares about her as a friend. Especially since they just had their first litter of kits recently…

Prompt;; "Can we not talk about this right now?" Shrike hissed, whipping around to face the cat behind him. Blazing auburn eyes met cool azure, and the tom could feel nothing. His chest no longer heaved with trepidation, paws ceasing to tremble with nervous passion. All he felt was irritation. "Why do you insist on making every meeting as difficult as possible?" he continued, his voice edged with an icy harshness.

Boar Strike frowned, but not seemingly out of sadness, just disappointment. Like a mentor seeing their apprentice fail at an important task. But not like a lover being rejected. This was not personal to him, just business gone wrong.

"I'll tell you why, sweet Shrike," Boar hissed, his voice smooth as a snake slithering through grass. He took a step forward, his whiskers intertwining with Shrike's. The intensity in his icy gaze sent shivers up the warrior's spine, and he nervously took a step back. But Boar Strike relented, taking another step forward, not letting him escape.

"Because you have everything to lose. Because I have everything to gain. Because everyone could know our secret, and it would do nothing but destroy you." Boar Strike let out a low, airy chuckle. "You are everything to your clan. Could you imagine if anyone found us? The scandal, the chaos ensuing?"

Boar stalked past Shrike Heart, letting his gaze slide past and up to the tree where the leaders sat perched above, giving their appointed briefings. There was hunger in his eyes, a craving so deep that it scared Shrike more than any snake ever could. "You're my key to sitting on the throne, little bird," the warrior muttered. "And I will get there, no matter what I have to do, or who is sacrificed."

From that moment on, Shrike Heart could never truly allow himself to fall in love. Not like he had with who would later become his greatest enemy, Boar Strike, an ambitious warrior from an opposing clan. Shrike was a gentle soul, but through heartbreak, his idea on romance slowly drowned in his own dark memories.

Maybe, with time and compassion, he can learn to love again. But that would be a great task to the cat who dares to take on this precarious, and likely fruitless task. Perhaps there is someone out there who will risk anything to be with him, though.

Riverbed had always been a stray in twolegplace, and a loner outside of it. He had always been alone after losing Smokestep, besides talking to the passing loner or kittypet. He had always thought of settling down with a she-cat and raising a family, but he never came across anyone who interested him. He was fine with that, however. He didn't mind his silent travels to see his brother or wandering around twolegplace. And if you were to ask him if he would ever settle down with a mate and kits, his response will always be, "If I can find someone, sure, but I enjoy the quiet for right now."

Bumblepaw is at that sweet, confusing time of a youngster's life. Feelings run high, and the littlest things make the biggest difference, but it's something he just doesn't understand. Pepperpaw, his best friend since they were both kits, has been teasing him more and acting... odd around him, but he can't work out why. Does she like him, or is she just trying to be funny? Why can't she-cats just be simple...

His own feelings confuse him even more than the others. His ears burn hotly when his mentor mentions how nicely he and Pepperpaw work together - they're friends! Dating a friend is weird! Or at least, that's what he heard from the older apprentices... Is it actually weird to him? Not really, but he's only just exploring the realm of romance and relationships, so he's being careful with what he says and does. Gosh, young love can be so exhausting...

Silverflame strongly believes in bonds, love and fate but he wouldn't necessarily call himself a hopeless romantic. While the tom likes the idea of a quiet yet beautiful setting with a beloved person at his side, which probably sounds kinda cheesy for a male, he can also be pretty bold and rush things by getting straight to the point if he's certain of something.

The silver feline wants to trust in a higher power, a force that will lead him to find the right cat for him. A good friend, a stranger or even a soulmate perhaps, who knows? But Silverflame always knew there was something greater out there, just waiting for him to discover Slateclan and the mysteries of Starclan.

There are very important traits he expects of his mate and vice versa;
Loyalty - "I will have your back and you'll have mine, we'll keep each other safe in times of need."
Equal trust - "Speak your mind honestly, even if your opinion differs or you waver, I will keep on believing in you."
Kindness - "I don't expect us to be understanding at all times but after butting heads, we will continue to be kind."

Love only caused pain. No cat should put themselves through the torture of romance, as it only ever ended in heartbreak. The heartbreak could come days, moons, even years after the romance blossoms, but it will always come, whether it is expected or not.

Silvercrow doesn't like to talk about love or romance. He will always repeat that it is useless, that it should be abandoned. He doesn't want the others to know that he only thinks this way because of what happened to him, because of who he lost.

A gentle soul. A kind soul. Silvercrow still dreams about him, and stills thinks he can feel his pelt against his. He was perfect, and they were in love, but he was taken from him by metal cages and sharp tongued Twolegs. Silvercrow's love only led to a broken heart, wondering where in the world he could be.

Perhaps Silvercrow would never know, and he would only be able to live with the heartbreak of not seeing him again.

Romance? A kit’s dream or so Alic had thought for the longest time, after having been told in so many words that he would never have it. At five moons old Alic knew what romance was, he’d seen it all over the kingdom and at five moons old he was told there would never be any in his life. His was to serve, he had a duty and there was no room for romance in that, besides romance was a joke, a dance two played with one another before something went wrong.

At eleven moons old Alic got his first taste of romance himself, a fleeting crush on a knight in training, it earned him a claw to the leg when he missed his mentor's attack. It just reminded him how dumb romance was, his fleeting thought about the she-cat with the long hair and how he wished he was sparing with her instead, about what he’d say to her. The pain brought him back though, romance was a distraction from his job, one he couldn’t afford.

The queen was crowned when he was 38 moons old, the death of the king still heavy on everyone’s mind when Alic learned the true pain that romance could bring, that love could bring. Standing a pace behind his soon to be mate and a little to the left Alice couldn’t help but have his eyes trained on the now-former king's consort. Her eyes welled with tears and not for the reason everyone seemed to think, she was still feeling the loss of her mate, her romance gone forever. Alic couldn’t imagine a pain that kept you weeping for days, that kept you crying when you should be proud at one of your kits, it wasn’t worth it.

It was moons after, Alic already formally mated to the queen and higher somehow in the eyes of the kingdom, but it was just a fancy way of saying guard to the queen. He’d spent much more time with her then he was used to and only moments ago had fought by her side when a predator had come down on them. Alic had never seen a fighter so fierce, so focused, and so agile when fighting something like that. It almost made him wonder if romance was worth the pain, the distraction, the miss of duty.
