For as long as she could remember, Alya had been in the shadow of her older sister. Her sister was smart, talented, creative, and popular. Nothing Alya did was special, because her sister could always do it better. Every activity, every interest, was already taken by her sister. She was left with nothing to call her own.

As if all that wasn't enough, her sister had been born almost exactly two years before her, on the 10th. That meant that she had the same zodiac sign. It fit her, too. She was very original and independant, and would fight for good causes. Her intellectual conversations and ability to be a good listener gave her many friends.

Because of this, Alya decided to try to be as different as possible. She made sure to never act like her zodiac sign, and avoided anything mentioned in Aquarius's horoscope. She shied away from other buttermilks, and tried to initiate as little conversations as possible.
