how do they handle their light?: [632/750 words]
Kit was always a happy and giving dinoken sharing their gift of light with all the people and creatures they could. She became something of a legend among travelers earning the nickname the Sprite of the Ebon Forest. With her stories becoming more popular for the local town to share amongst each other and the tourists who visited some people would strand themselves to draw her out. Being the kind and helpful soul that she was Kit always left her den to help someone she thought was in need having an unwavering trust in the people of the town.

However, one day an exotic trapper who’d searched across the world for the most exotic specimens happened upon the stories of the friendly ken. They decided to go in search of the sprite to see if there was a real creature behind the mythos of the legend. They spent three weeks in the forest searching for their hidden lair stumbling upon it by accident when the trapper and their crew had to scale up a cliff face to escape a dead end. The men stumbled upon a cave with a faint glow emanating from it and cautiously went inside.

They came across the sleeping Kit curled up in her comfortable nest of moss her glowing aura pulsing softly in time with her breathing. The people grinned at each other grabbing a net and throwing it over the unsuspecting creature. Kit was understandably upset a trashed furiously confused as to why humans who she’d helped almost all her life would decide to take her from her home. The trappers managed to capture her successfully carting her off to an auction of people interested in exotic animals as pets or exhibits. The terrified ken could sense in the pit of her stomach that the situation had no way of ending well as she was sold to the highest bidder.

Kit came to realize that the man who bought her wanted her as a pet mostly, but also wanted her to entertain him whenever her got the whim for it. The man tried to teach her to do tricks with the natural light she gave off, like blinking in certain patterns or creating a blinding flash. In their determination to break the “rebellious” Ken’s will and make them answer to their commands never realized that the poor ken couldn’t control how much light she gave off. In retribution every time she failed to comply with a command, they would punish her in some way. The punishments could range anywhere from being left outside in whatever weather condition to not cleaning her cage or feeding her. After almost a week in a row of not being fed Kit was starting to get desperate and tried to escape her confines so she could forage for food. Thankfully she managed to escape but she injured her wing in doing so having to resort to ground travel to put distance between herself and her captor. The Ken soon realized that she would have to risk traveling during the day because her glow would give her away when it got dark.

After a few weeks of traveling she found a secluded forest that was rarely visited by humans surrounded by a small semi-circle of mountains. She happily set up her home in an alcove within one of the mountains so she could see everything that happened in the forest. Despite starting a new chapter of her life away from most people her time in captivity destroyed the trust she had in most other creatures. Now whenever she sees a lost traveler even though she so badly wants to go and help she remains in her new home afraid of what could happen to her if the humans ever saw her again.

what keeps them together?: [300 words max]
Archie stood on his tip-toes at the edge of the group, watching for his chance to either launch himself into the conversation, or quietly slip away. The other dinoken chattered enthusiastically, and he smiled in response to their own happiness. After a long day of running about and sliding in the snow, Archie was filled with satisfaction at a time well-spent, but there was something he wanted to do back home.

A lavender colored dinoken pattered up to him and he smiled, nodding as his friend Prince asked if he could join him. Archie was very comfortable around his long-time friend, and the two often enjoyed sitting in happy silence together. Making their way back to Archie's cozy home situated in a small cavern and walled with sweet-scented wood, Archie spoke quietly about the days events. They closed the door to the drafty world behind them, lit a fire in the small fireplace, and heated up some hot cocoa before booting up their Nintendo-DS's. It was Pokémon time! Archie had lovingly trained his team of Pokémon so well that battles weren't all that difficult for him anymore, but his Pokédex was not full yet! There was still work to be done! The two dinoken stayed up late into the night, speaking every so often, but full of warmth and contentment every single minute. (223/300)

draw or describe their favorite accessories:
Othello's favourite accessories are a pendant with a compass on the charm, and a leather satchel.

The chain of the pendant is long and silver, and hangs around his neck so that the charm reaches the fur tufts on his chest. It is strong and sturdy, having survived the harshest of weather. The charm is a brilliant gold, with the compass star being the focal point. The metal glints in the light, and Othello always polishes it to prevent even the smallest smudge.

The leather satchel, black and glossy, is where he hides away the shiny things he finds on adventures; rocks, shells, and even the occasional beetle. He fills it to the brim on every outing, returning home with a new assortment of sparkles to add to his "treasure" garden. The very best are kept on a small ledge in his den, while the rest he embeds into the nearby ground, almost like a mosaic (which is fortunate for the beetles).

why is it so significant?:
The pendant was the very first piece of "treasure"; when he was young, he found it hanging from a tree branch outside an abandoned cave. He refuses to take off the necklace out of fear of losing it, and dislikes other Dinoken staring at it. He has been known to hide the gold behind a wing in the presence of beady eyes. Since then, Othello's enthusiasm for treasure has only increased; some compare him to a crow thanks to his hordes.

In his travels for treasure, Othello trusts that the compass will always help him find his way, so that he may return home safely every time, even on the darkest nights, or through the most violent storms.

The satchel was another object he found, although he uses it more for practicality than sentimental reasons. Before, he would fly back with one object at a time; so using the bag has greatly assisted him.
