chaseRavi has a very difficult time separating dreams from reality. You see, no one knows quite why he has such vivid night terrors, but that's what seems to be the origin of the rest of his problems. His parents put it down to an overactive imagination, the rest of his family assumed either video games or scary stories or even cartoons. What they didn't realize is that his parents were only partially right; his psychiatrist told them he was a "Fantasy Prone Personality"; now, that wouldn't be so bad, except that he also suffers from anxiety and paranoia, which makes his fantasizing take very dark, very real turns. During the day he an normally either ignore or dissipate these thoughts and fears, but night time is a whole different story. They quadruple in intensity, and they become so realistic that he normally can't wake himself; all he can do is scream and thrash in his sleep. This raises his anxiety about going to sleep, so when he finally does fall asleep, he has no clue it has happened; he simply passes out, and is never sure if he's laying in his bed awake, or just dreaming that he is. The dream always goes the same, though: he slowly gets up out of his bed and walks through his owner's house; thanks to his eidetic memory, everything is exactly the way it was.
He eventually makes his way out of the front door and into the street; sometimes it's sunset, other times the moon is a staggering red. A blood moon, he seems to remember them calling it? Regardless, he admires its beauty only briefly before a shadow begins to rise from behind the distant pines; it's broken, almost like it was made of glass and someone shattered its body, but it's still moving. It lifts higher and higher, a massive beast large and dark enough to partially block out the moon. Ravi is frozen with fear; should he run? Stay absolutely still? Pray for salvation? Suddenly its huge head turns to him; there are no eyes, no facial features, but he can feel it staring at him. Through him, even. His heart is racing. Out of the shadows in the alleyways in front of him, red eyes begin to form and glow, stalking slowly towards him; in the light, these beasts take the form of Shadow Wolves, Hellhounds. Predators sent to hunt the demons' prey. They snap at him with ebony teeth, malice in their crimson eyes; their growling is the only sound that breaks the silence of the night. Suddenly the wolves lunge and he bolts for it, away from the demon, away from the wolves, but into the unknown. He's scared, terrified, but his only saving grace it his speed. Because he's a fast Flit, and he loves to race... but he finds out very quickly that he isn't that fast. The wolves are close behind him, snapping at his heels as he desperately tries to stay one step ahead, but ultimately he fails. Just before the demon's hand descends on him, he wakes up screaming.
Because of these night terrors, Ravi has developed intense insomnia at night, and narcolepsy during the day. He's rarely awake while the sun is out, because the dreams don't seem to haunt him any other time other than night. He's bounced around through home after home because of this, but with his newest owner, they're working together to get his issues under control. She's his forever home, or at least he hopes, because she's the only one who has taken the time and effort to help him rather than just dumping his problems on the next person.

name: Durme
gender: Female
writing:
'I saw you in a hospital bed. With trimmings of gold and silver.
The wolf cried out, you were lost in your head
And the dreams had come to kill ya.
I tried to lift you, from the bottom of seas
But your heart gave out. Now you're here on your knees,
Singing the same old song.
I wish I could sing along.'
She was a dancer once. With bright eyes, and smiles. She moved like water, with its twists and turns, with warmth in her gaze and honey on her lips. Durme was a dream. She was a laughing girl, who span in circles until she was dizzy, until the world turned for her instead while she stood still. She was loved so wholely, so warmly despite her upbringing.
An orphan unwanted, a child lost to the streets. Durme held secrets like spiderwebs of these ventures, faint and delicate bridges of her past.
But she was loved.
She was unofficially adopted. Everyone knew Durme. Everyone cared for her, looked out for her.
And she loved in equal measure, in whispered thanks, in favors returned, errands ran for families.
Durme however was broken in a way no one would name. No one was brave enough to seek out why. How she'd stare at doors that were closed and cry, how she'd cling so feverishly to blankets given to her while shivering. It was frightening how such a beautiful child was hurt so badly. So when she'd make up names, pretend longer than she should, no one spoke a word.
And Durme grew up pretending. Dreams swirled behind her eyes, fantasy building the light in her that the real world couldn't foster. Such things had no right to take hold in a world so cruel. She of all creatures shouldn't have had a single dream left, it seemed to say. But defiantly, Durme's dreams grew and blurred with her sight.
With her mind.
She jumped at shadows that were no longer there. She talked to people no one could see. She danced to music that couldn't be heard, and it made others wonder what could she be. They tried to name it, put it into words, but Durme oh Durme that was absurd. And she wouldn't pick up the bright little pills, that shined in the morning and made her quite ill.
Durme watched with shadows etched in her eyes, but she was still docile, still soft like a child. It hurt when no one had room to spare, to let her sleep on the floor, or over the chair. They'd see those shadows stretch under her eyes but they never accused them. Never saw through the lie. So on those days Durme wandered the streets, be it cold winter or blistering heat.
So when Nepit came to find her, she was both lost and not all the way found. Really it was stupid. Nepit was in a financial struggle, having no quick and easy way to keep paying rent with her shaky jobs. She needed the help...so when someone had told her of Durme claiming she needed a home, she was not sure who to expect. But if she could pay her deal of the rent, then she wouldn't care.
Upon meeting Durme, however, she was led to conclude that something wasn't right. At least, not completely. Not in the way it should be. To say she didn't feel comfortable was an understatement. Nepit had never seen a girl so high in the clouds and she was an actress. But it was that open vulnerability that made her frown and thinks of how cruel the world could be that sealed the deal.
She'd call that person and tell them she'd take her in. It was obvious she couldn't quite leave her there. Nepit still worked shaky jobs, but after taking Durme in she found the girl was eager to work, eager to show. Nepit found her a job as a waitress at the local bar she frequented and made sure she was settled. But those starry eyes were still unsettling, still brighter than they had any business being.
