▪ The Nightmare ▪

Vines curled and twisted in the dark. He couldn't see them, but they were there. He could hear them moving in the dark forest like snakes. Only, if they had been just snakes his heart wouldn't be beating this fast. Autumn ran through the treetops as fast as he could, but the vines still caught him, entangled him. He clawed to get free, but no matter how hard he struggled, they only grew tighter. Finally, when he did get free, he found that instead of the branches that had been there before, there was nothing but empty space. He reached out for branches that weren't there as he fell towards the forest floor.
