extra(s) : "Way over yonder in the minor keeeeyyyyy, ain't nobody who can sing like me." She repeated quietly to herself, "Ain't nobody..." The footsteps cut her singing off. They had come upstairs. "No one here!" A gruff voice called down to someone on a lower floor. If only they knew, that Melon was squished behind the dresser, practicly hugging the wall. Actually, it was better they didn't know. Melon's family was framed for disobeying the Queen, as they tried to save a family friend from being falsely accused of a theft. Melon peeked out of her small hiding place, and that's when she saw the stocky guard throw a torch to the floor, quickly igniting the worn rug. She quickly trapped her most important possessions, her cat stuffie, a family photo, her pet mouse, Smog, her music books, her flute, and most importantly, the old radio, with the recording of her and her dad singing on it. The fire was eating away at the bed now, as she garbed anything at arms length and shoved it into her bag. She tumbled down the stairs, fire and smoke stinging her eyes, and tears rolling down her cheeks for more reasons than one. Even the tears felt hot and smokey, not at all the warn comfort her tears normally brought. She quickly snatched many cookies off the bakery display she had worked so hard on, then tumbled out the back door into a dark, unforgiving world. She ran as fast as her weary legs could take her, over green grassy hills, and past large, dark ditches. Anything to get away from the blazing claws of the fire, attacking the night with its hot fangs and burning her bakery, her home. She wandered far, eventually stopping in a crevice between to large hills. She spread out a bedsheet she had rescued and set up a small area for her to relax in. She turned her radio on to the recordings, and lay back, with a pillow and blanket from her bed, she slept, the sound of baby Melon and her father sending her spiraling into rest. She awoke in a cold sweat, having drempt about the trial and the fire. She clenched her paw determinedly, "I'm going to find Mom and Dad, I'm going to save them, and clear our name." Cringing from the burns of her legs, she stood and packed her few possessions into the large camping backpack she had. Her radio still playing from inside her bag, a couple of cookies stuffed into one coat pocket, and her stuffed cat plush and her pet black mouse in the other, she set out, into this most unforgiving world, to clear the names of herself and her family, and to rescue those she loved.
