Worst/best Memory:

Smoke hung in the air like a heavy curtain; it was so thick that Dustpaw could hardly see his whiskers in front of his nose. The gray air crept into everything including Dustpaw’s lungs which screamed for clean, clear air but instead of clean air pure terror filled his being. The young apprentice was confused, disoriented; his mentor and the rest of the border patrol were missing all divided by the walls of flame that overtook the grassland. He cried out once or twice but the roars of the flames were so loud that not even he could hear his own voice. His body felt frozen too scared to move he dug his claws into the ground and closed his eyes shut. If he closed his eyes maybe it would all go away faster, he prayed to Starclan it would all go away. This is the end. I am going to walk with them. Help me Starclan.

Time seemed to stand still as Dustpaw praying the same words over and over. It felt like a quarter-moon had passed yet at the same time only a second. What didn’t make sense to him at all was why the fire hadn’t engulfed him yet. “Open your eyes, Dustpaw.” A voice spoke softly and a cool feeling lay across his shoulders. The apprentice slowly opened his eyes which automatically began to sting from the smoke. Before him, amidst the smoke and flames was a giant brown ticked tabby tom with lighter legs and soft green eyes, it was Coyotepelt. A moment of relief filled Dustpaw as he saw his mentor whom he rushed to as a fearful kit would rush to its mother’s side but, as he buried his face into the shoulder of his mentor he noticed that the cat felt cool and had no sent. Relief was quickly replaced with sorrow.

“Are you here to take me with you?” The young odd eyed cat looked up at his mentor’s somber face.
“No, not yet. I am here to help you get home. Now come. Stay close to me.” The tom began to walk away, Dustpaw frantically running after him. The fire around them blazed eating everything in its path, pressing on the two as they quickly moved along the grassland.

Suddenly, something caught Duspaw’s eye. The thought of fire left his mind as he felt his feet grow heavy. A figure lay not too far off from where he stood; the figure’s back was turned to him and badly burned by the flames yet he knew in his heart that it was a cat and as his eyes focused more, ignoring the sting of smoke, Dustpaw could see the unique coloring of his mentor which had given him his name, Coyotepelt. The apprentice started to move towards the body when he was suddenly stopped.
Coyotepelt had grabbed the smaller cat by the scruff and pulled him away as a flame raged up singeing the hair on his nose. “Keep moving!” Coyotepelt hissed through the grip he had on the apprentice. Dustpaw flailed trying to get a grip on the ground as he was being pulled. “No! I can’t leave your body! I must take it back!” He cried, half pleaded. The older tom released him only to begin pushing him.

“Leave me! The fire is starting to grow bigger. If you do not hurry you will die as well! Hurry! Go! Run” Dustpaw was propelled forward by a giant push. He tripped over his paws a few times before he was at a full sprint forward. With one last look over his shoulder he saw he mentor rising up on his back legs as if he was about to enter battle with the fire. That was the last he saw of Coyotepelt.

He wasn’t sure where he was running to, only that he was going in the direction he was told to. Finally, Dustpaw came to the river that protected the clan’s camp, crossed it, and collapsed on the bank. His entire body ached as he sucked in the air that was hardly touched by the smoke. He laid on the bank with his eyes closed and his heart heavy. He would forever feel this loss.

`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Dustwind’s eyes snapped open and the fur on the back of his neck stood on end. The warrior’s den was peaceful and quiet as his clanmates slept around him but his heart raced a thousand miles per hour and he felt like he was gasping for air once again. 48 moons had past since Dustwind had received his warrior name but he was still plagued with the same nightmare on the eve of his naming ceremony. It was as if Starclan didn’t want him to forget how he received his warrior name. Not that he could ever forget that night, the guilt of surviving was almost worse than the thought of him joining Starclan that night. Shakily Dustwind rose from his nest, arched his back in a stretch, and quietly walked out of the den. It was a claw-moon which allowed the sky to be filled with the night stars.
“Why did he die? Why did you spare me?” He meowed softly to the night sky as he watched a star shoot across Silverpelt. His heart dropped knowing that another four seasons would come and go with no answer from Starclan. “May you find good hunting, swift running, and shelter when you sleep Coyotepelt.” He meowed the soft goodbye before turning away and returning to his place in the warrior’s den.
    Cat's Name: Cheerios > Honeyfrost
    Cat's gender: She-cat
    Clan Thread: GaleClan
    Best Memory: [ 658 Words ]
      Cheerios, the newest addition to GaleClan after having been abandoned by her twolegs in the harsh wilderness, felt... utterly useless around the strong, fierce forest cats that made up her new family. She had never hunted, had never fought, and would likely not amount to much of a warrior. Not that she wouldn't try - in fact, the opposite was true. She'd try as hard as possible to prove herself to her clan! And that started with seeking training from the stoic, intimidating leader - Coldstar.
      It took her a while to gather her courage, many moments of pacing and muttering to herself before she set her mismatched gaze on the leader's den and took her first steps towards it. Only to stop with a little shiver of relief when another cat called for her. Just under her, Duskheart's head poked out from the bear's den, worry plain on his features. He signaled for her to follow him and as she fell into step with him she could practically feel the anxiety emanating from him.
      He led her into the medicine cat's den where the silent warrior Dovewhisper worried over the hulking form of Coldstar. The leader was worse for wear, breath a mere rasping whisper, green streamed from his pallid nose, and at the sight of them, he struggled to warn them away though the words were just ghosts.
      "Greencough, Dovewhisper's done everything he can do. He needs honey, but the only place bees live is within Spider's Orchard. Thunderpaw is out hunting, Dovewhisper has to stay here with Coldstar, and I don't know the way myself. You used to live near there, no?" Cheerios nodded hesitantly, already sure of what would be asked of her.
      "I'll be back quicker than a mouse can flick its whiskers!" She promised, already turning and bounding through the camp, down the river all the way to the twoleg place where the weird little cluster of sweet-trees grew. A black-and-white cut tom named Spider lived there, thus its name being Spider's Orchard, protecting the sweet-trees from mice and birds. Near the center of the clump of trees a little box buzzed with life, home to fat bees that worked busily to make honey for the twolegs. What those odd furless creatures did with the honey, the cats would never know, but there was always enough for them to steal a bit.
      As she approached, Cheerios was greeted by the fat patched tom, Spider. "No time! Need honey!" Spider nodded, stepping silently out of her way as she cautiously approached the noisy box and nosed the top open. The bees bumbled around her, curious but not quite angry yet, and she continued her work. Carefully taking one of the sticks between her teeth and tugging it out, she then scooped up a pawful of the honey and slathered it into the fronds of the fern she'd been given to transport the precious liquid before wrapping the whole thing in beech leaves to make sure it was secured. She left the box in disarray, sure the twolegs would right it when they returned next. A final quick goodbye to Spider and she was off once more back to the camp.
      Cheerios arrived just in time; Coldstar's strength was fading fast as she burst into the medicine cat's den. Her chest heaved with effort as she set the bundle down before Dovewhisper who gave her an approving look before setting back to work on the leader. Through the rest of the night, the cats all held their breath, waiting to see if Coldstar would pull through with all nine of his lives. And he did, though only just barely. The honey had soothed his throat, letting him breathe easier and allowing him the rest he so needed. It also fought the infection in his chest and gave him the strength he lacked to pull through. Once recovered, Coldstar praised Cheerios as a hero and bestowed her warrior name - Honeyfrost.
Worst/best Memory: "great catch, pikepaw!" shouted a larger warrior. the smaller patched tabby tom was breathing hard, trying to catch his breath after a strenuous hunt. once pikepaw caught his breath he beamed at his mentor, happiness filling his blue and green eyes. “i do not think I ever ran so fast in my life, stormfoot,” the apprentice breathed out. “catching a rabbit for your first catch is something to be proud of pikepaw, you are going to make a fine warrior,” meowed the warrior, giving pikepaw a friendly rub on his head. ‘i am going to make a fine warrior,’ pikepaw thought to himself, the feeling of jubilee coursing through his veins.
Cat's Name: Ripple - Morningpaw - Morningwish
Cat's gender: Molly
Clan Thread: Wishclan
Worst/best Memory(261 Words):
Ripple padded through the fresh morning air, her pelt gleamed from the dew nestling against her sides.
The snap of a branch caught her attention and she turned her gaze behind her, to where a calico stood watching.
Swallowing nervously, she turned to face the other she-cat.
"I'm sorry - is this your territory?" She asked, glad her voice didn't quiver.
The molly nodded. "My name is Quietstar - leader of Wishclan." The calico dipped her head and Ripple dipped in reply as well.
"Hello, my name is Ripple. I used to live with up-walkers but I've decided to live out in the forest..."
Quietstar's eyes seemed to brighten and she stepped closer. "Would you like to join my clan? You would have to become an apprentice first, and you'd have to learn a lot of stuff - but myself and my clan will happily help!"
Ripple's heartbeat quickened as she nodded her head and said she'd love to join.
*Later the next day*
Ripple sat nervously in front of Gentlestar, the other cats near her as she waited to become an apprentice.
"Ripple, you have reached the age of six moons and joined our clan from the Kitty-pet life. It is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Morningpaw. Your mentor will be myself I hope I will pass down all I know on to you as my apprentice."
Ripple - no Morningpaw - quivered with excitment at the thought of being part of a clan.
Cat's Name: Emberheart
Cat's gender: Female
Clan Thread:AuroraClan
Worst/best Memory: The loss of her kits (Potential trigger warning-sad story)
Emberheart, named Ember at the time, was devastated. After the loss of her mate to a fox, the only thing keeping her hopeful about the future was the promise of what he left behind. Their soon to be born kits. Ember swore she would raise her kits just as her mate and her had always dreamed. Free in the wild, not trapped behind the doors of a two-leg den as her mate had grown up. However, the thought of surviving alone in an unknown territory was daunting. Ember had remained in their old den after she lost her mate, too attached to it to leave. But this was her undoing. The fox returned to the den once again. For it had been its old den. Ember was caught by surprise and fought to the best of her abilities. But the fox grabbed her by the scruff and tossed her against a tree. The dazed she-cat barely made it out. But the blow she suffered had unforeseen consequences, and when she woke up the next day to pain in her abdomen and blood, she knew she had lost them. Her kits would never see the sun.
Extra: How she joined the clan
Ember had shut off her emotions after her loss. It was easier to function without thinking or feeling. She wandered aimlessly for a few moons before stumbling into AuroraClan territory. Ravenstar had noticed the loner in her lands and decided to investigate. She had not expected the stranger to be so broken. Approaching cautiously, Ravenstar sat beside the lone she-cat. She recognezied the look in her eyes. The look of one who was grieving.
"You've suffered a great loss. What keeps you moving forward?" She questioned softly. Ember looked up surprised.
"It prevents me from thinking too much." She simply replied. Ravenstar frowned.
"But don't you want to preserve their memory? For if you don't, who will?" Ravenstar asked.
"They had yet to be born, I have little memories to preserve. My kits.." Ember broke off, her voice cracking with emotion.
Ravenstar leaned into the other she-cat comfortingly. "Then shouldn't you make memories of your own? Ones that you can then share with them once you are reunited in the lights of the aurora? Live and feel for them." Ravenstar stated firmly yet with a gentle tone. Ember froze.
"You're right." Ember declared, determination showing in her eyes. "I need to move forward, but not just mindlessly. I need to live each day, for them." Ravenstar purred with approval.
"Come to my clan. We could use your strong heart. I am Ravenstar. What is your name?" She asked, standing up. Ember smiled.
"I would love to. I am Ember. I suppose I need a warrior name. That is how clans function, correct?" She asked. Ravenstar nodded.
"How about Emberheart?" Ravenstar asked after a pause. "For your strong and determined heart." She explained.
Emberheart purred. "Perfect." The two she-cats headed off to camp to get the newest warrior settled in.
Cat's Name: Morningstorm
Clan Thread: Sorrelclan
Best Memory: Meeting Monkeyface for the first time and joining Sorrelclan (680 words)
    Jackson shivered in the cold damp log. He had been hiding from a predator for the past few days, and was starting to wish that he had never run away from home. At least his humans had given him a warm meal, a nice bed, comfort... He began to sink into a peaceful slumber until a disgusting scent hit his nose. Fox! He snapped awake, every muscle tense. His collar had come off a day ago and he was glad that the tinkling bell wasn't there anymore, as he believed it had been part of what attracted the fox to him. Jackson began to pray to his ancestors (whoever they were, as he had been separated from his family soon after birth like most housecats) for them to lead him to safety. He remembered what had gotten him into this situation in the first place. He had heard about groups of cats called "clans" and had wondered if they would take him in. It would certainly be an adventure, but he hadn't imagined what kind of adventure it would be. No warm house; only a cold log. No predictable mealtime; only whatever meal he had managed to catch. Although he had been starting to like wild mouse and rabbit, even though he had only had rabbit once. It had been juicy and fresh, nothing like the food his humans had given him. Maybe there were advantages to being out in the wild, but only if a clan found him. Or else he'd try to get back home.
    Snarling. Cats yowling with pain and excitement. Jackson's ears perked up as he slid forward through the log. He emerged, whiskers twitching to determine what the situation was like. And there were three cats, all mollies by their scent, fighting the fox. A large and slender tortoiseshell swiped her paw across the fox's muzzle while a small gray-and-white molly attempted to bite the fox's front right leg. But golden molly... She was like a spirit in the grace shown through her movements and the way her long fur ruffled as she fought. Jackson shook his head. Can't get distracted, he thought. In a moment, he knew what he was going to do.
    Jackson darted out from the log and bit the fox's bright red tail. The fox yelped in pain and the tortoiseshell got another swipe in. The burly golden molly snarled and barreled into the fox, which stumbled back, showing frightened dark eyes. A few heartbeats later, it had gone.
    "Are you alright?"
    Jackson looked up and saw the golden molly. A strange feeling rose within him and his tail twitched involuntarily. "Yeah," he said, suddenly shy. "I'm okay. Are you?"
    The molly chuckled. "Barely a few scratches. That fox must have been young and desperate to go after a cat. I'm Monkeyface, warrior of Sorrelclan."
    Jackson's eyes widened slightly. Sorrelclan? One of those clans? His luck seemed too good to be true. "I-I'm Jackson. Former kittypet." He chuckled uneasily. "I guess this is what happens to all kittypets, huh?"
    The tortoiseshell padded over to them, snorting out a laugh. "Absolutely not. We were all former kittypets, but then we were far more lucky." She looked at him with a shrewd glance. "My name is Sorrelstar, leader of the clan. As you showed considerable bravery and innovation, I would like to offer you a spot in my clan."
    Jackson's tail swayed and his ears flicked with excitement. Sorrelstar really wanted him? He looked at Monkeyface and the strange feeling rose within him again. "I'd love to join the clan," he said, voice ringing out loud and strange. If only for you, Monkeyface, he thought to himself.
    Sorrelstar smiled. "You'll have to change your name," she said, "and start out as an apprentice. Once your skills have been assessed, you will earn your warrior name."
    Jackson dipped his head. "Anything," he said.
    "Then from now on, you will be called Morningpaw for your light fur and for your new beginning."
    Morningpaw grinned. "Thank you Sorrelstar," he said. And thank you for the hope.
    Worst/best Memory:
    (note; amberclan and their residents are made for the sole purpose of this story, they are not real cats)
    addertail stopped, breathing heavily. she had just gotten exiled from her previous clan for a murder she did not do. her eyes were watery and she was extremely exhausted. the warrior had ran when she was out of her old clans sight, ran in one direction for who knows how long. she just stopped at the sight of a brook, it looked narrow and since she knew how to swim there would be no need to panic. addertail padded closer and lapped up some of the water before jumping on the surface, trying to get her footing. the water was deeper than she had thought. closing her eyes, addertail tried to replay the moments that had just happened.
    --
    the she cat had just exited the warriors den, yawning and stretching. it was dusk and the prey pile seemed low. frowning she had the intent on going on a solo hunting trip before the deputy chimed in, "going on a hunt this early? you might need some help." he teased. addertail's fur bristled, if there was anything she hated it was this pesky cat of a deputy. how he got such a high position in the clan is a mystery.
    as she hesitantly followed smokescent, the deputy, outside of clan another cat joined in. this time, a cat that addertail actually tolerated. featherfur had joined in and addertail was pleased. when they were in hunting territory, smokescent raised his tail as a sign to stop. "addertail you head over that direction," he pointed with his tail, "featherfur and i will go the other, got it?" the tom ordered.
    as much as addertail disliked this cat, she had to obey to his orders. padding off, addertail was sniffing the air for some prey when an ear splitting scream made the birds fly. the sound came form where smokescent and featherfur were. upon seeing them, addertail could not believe what stood in front of her. smokescent stood over featherfurs lifeless body, her eyes wide in shock but empty and her mouth agape. addertail felt disgusted she looked at smokescent in the eye, trying to find a reasonable explanation.
    "she killed birchwing." he hissed, tone serious. birchwing was smokescents mother and, had it not been for featherpaw (now featherfur) she would have still been alive.
    "it wasn't her fault! smokescent, birchwing sacrificed herself to save featherfur. that sacrifice is now wasted and changed nothing." she argued, though muttering the last part.
    smokescent lashed his tail, "she could've saved herself had she ran fast enough! you of all cats should know that, birchwing didn't deserve to die." the deputy narrowed his eyes. "but-" addertail tried to argue back but was cut off as smokescent lunged at her, aiming for her throat.
    the two cats thrashed and clawed at each other until someone, who had noticed their long gone presence, stepped in. antstar, leader of amberclan, broke the fight by pinning down addertail. "what is the meaning of this? why is featherfur dead?" he hissed. addertail knew that she was done for, she knows her reputation in the clan. the warrior was never really liked by anyone because of her feisty and fierce personality.
    she was about to explain before smokescent took his chance and
    lied, "antstar, thank starclan you're here! addertail mercilessly killed featherfur after she had told us to separate. I was far too late to save her." he lowered his head in an attempt to fake sadness. the warrior looked back at her leader, terrified as he pinned her harder to the ground. "is this true?" he demanded.
    addertail closed her eyes, she had no say in the matter there was no point in trying to prove her innocence. antstar bared his teeth and let go of her. surprised but thankful, addertail was going to ask why before hearing the words, "go addertail.
    leave." he demanded, tone cold. addertail couldnt comprehend what was happening. "you heard him. go, run off rouge ." smokescent sneered and addertail swore she could see the mock in his eyes.
    ---
    addertail opened her eyes as she finished crossing the brook. she wanted to rip that cat to shreds. she wanted to destroy smokescent for ruining her life. what was she now? a rouge? the thought made her shiver. the she cat shook her pelt to rid of the water in her fur. she whipped her head around when she heard a twig break. a cat with sleek fur and blue eyes was staring back at her.
    "I'm owlstar, who are you?"
