Why are they wearing the outfit?: Fernweh has worn her hat since she was at the young age of ten. Though it definitely took some growing into, she loves it dearly for it reminds her of the first taste she had of adventure—when a merchant wearing this very same style came into town preaching of his exciting journey. Her bag was made by her mother, who told her to bring home pretty shells and rocks for her—something to remind Fern of each trip, and something to remind her mother of her only beloved child.
Personality: Raised in a small town, Fernweh, or just Fern, dislikes the limelight. She is quite a bright young ‘cet with a heart of gold, and a desire for adventure, and wherever she is, the energy is high. Fern herself is quite energetic and effervescent though this can lead to her being emotional or just plain worn down at times. In her heart, she truly believes in fate and has hope in the fact that adventures and excitement will one day lead her to her purpose in life.
What is their quirky trait: Fern always incorporates the number six into her life, whether she is aware of it or not. The volume of her music must always remain on six notches. There will always be six people at her parties, and six questions which she comes prepared to ask.

* "Right." Her mother straightened out the old, worn hat which fit a little too loosely over Fern’s head. "You look so grown up like this. If I didn't know what a softie you were, I'd probably be intimidated."

* "Mom!" Fern grumbled, a little too nervous to sound annoyed. The anticipation was eating at her, but deep down in her heart she knew that she was ready to embark on this quest. The inner-adventurer had been whispering about it for weeks, yet the fear of this journey still remained, lurking in the back of her mind. "Stop it. If you want to be helpful, give me words of guidance ... you know ... tell me how not to die."

* Her mother grinned, and Fern suddenly realized that she had granted her too much power. She never asked for advice, but this event was too big not to do so. "Let's see ... If you see some strange looking viscet in a dark alleyway, make sure to steer clear, but if that's not an option, remember to win the fight. I know you're good at that." She winked, and Fern rolled her eyes. Secretly though, it took everything within her not to grin as well. "Plus," her mother continued, "the knife in your bag is crisp. It's got a good blade, and I've heard legends of it fighting a far greater evil than the one you'll face."

* Fern smiled. The words calmed her down. She didn't have the heart to tell her mother that this quest actually could be life threatening. It was unlikely that she would meet anything beyond her own abilities to fight, but that wasn’t certain. Plus, it was better to focus on something completely goofy than to focus on her fears.

* Even with her mom talking, Fern’s thoughts slowly drifted away, back to the haunting images in her imagination. Again, she caught herself and decided to go through a mental checklist of what she needed. Hat, check. Journal, check. Glancing into the satchel, she counted even more supplies. Knife, check. Music box ... Music box? Why was that in there?

* She looked up to see her mother paste a happy look on her face, but it was quickly overrun by sadness. "Fern, I know," she whispered. "I know you are putting your own life at risk."

* Fern didn't know what to say. "Why are you so calm about this then?"

* "I suppose it is the case that I know too much about you. I know that this is a dream of yours. I know that you would never forgive yourself for not going on this adventure...."

* "I want you to play that box when you feel homesick. Just so you know that you're not alone."

* Sadness held her back, but Fern refused to let her heart make the choices. There was nothing that she wouldn't be prepared for.

She loves making up stories and ideas for everyone, and treats every day as a new opportunity to do something great. Fern is good at commanding others what to do very suddenly and makes a strong leader when one is needed. Otherwise, this contrasts with her more gentle nature. She has a strong sense of balanced humor that often contrasts with her kind personality as it is rather dark and often quite rude.

Weaknesses: Fern seriously dislikes working in groups. Even though she adores people, she likes to thrive in her own power over situations. Fern also has a difficult time handing rude or unpleasant comments or insults, and takes them very personally. Sometimes she can become mentally exhausted and when this happens, she will become grouchy and rude, She also commonly cannot properly express what she would like to say and ends up doing things she doesn't want to do, just because she cannot say no. She also loves symmetry and perfection in objects and will check constantly, often annoying those around her.
