Favorite part of the ocean: (500/500)
The ocean had saved Ohana's son more than anyone could count. She used to feel neutral about the ocean, preferring the city more, however when she had given birth to an egg. Her mate grew abusive under stress of having to take care of a mere egg that he didn't ask for, frequently he would toss the egg out in the ocean. He'd call it 'useless, infertile egg' in an attempt to get his mate to let the egg go. The first time it happened, Ohana ran out into the water after it, but it got swept away quickly, all she could do was to drop on her rear in ocean and weep. Few minutes later, the waves became more harsh, pushing over her. Then it slowly ceased, becoming calmer, and the mother realized that her precious egg is in her arms. She clutched it, and ran into her home to warm it up. After several times, she would always walk into the water, and patiently wait. The ocean became her friend, as if it understood her woes, and aided her in finding her egg.
One day, the egg did not return, but a bottle that had a note inside came instead. The note actually had such a neat, familiar handwriting on it that Ohana didn't think it was ocean's doing, and she quickly remembered her grandma's words when she was very little. "Dear, I will be watching over you, embrace the ocean," echoed in her head. Her grandma had loved ocean, she'd always see the elder in water, no matter if it's storming or freezing cold. She also passed after uttering that message to her, and her family had spread her ashes out in the ocean since it made the most sense.
The note had gave her an advice of banishing her mate. Ohana feared that the most, her mate can be violent sometimes. She mustered up the courage, because the longer egg is in the water, the more danger it is exposed to. She had to hurry. After searching for her mate, when she found him, she immediately shouted for him to leave her and her egg for good. Confusingly enough, he accepted with a mutter of 'finally'. She watched him turn tail and leave, she did too to return to the ocean. She sat down in the water, waiting until the egg showed up in her arms. She decided to half submerge the egg, giving the ocean praises for saving her baby. As if the timing lined up coincidentally, the egg began to wiggle, and crack. The mother watched in amazement as her baby fought it's way out of the shell confines.
"Oh my god," Ohana muttered, holding the baby, that she confirmed is her son, in air, "look at you! Nikau, you're beautiful!" From that day and on, she have never felt more connected to the ocean, and her grandma. Thus, everything about the ocean became her favorite, it saved her son's life, and her own.
