The sun was shining in a cloudless clear blue sky. Rays of light hit the my shine that rested near the tip of my tail. I smiled softly at the ground below me. "Bella, come here darling!" My mother's voice called out from the apartment behind her. Turning, I calmly walked over. "Yes, mother?" I said, brushing my hair back with one paw. Brooklyn smiled down at me, then said, "Help me carry this." The older kalon handed me a a brown, woven basket. It was heavy, but I managed to drag it into the small patch of grass out front. I heard the soft sound of my sibling's paws as they walked down the stairs into the sunlight with me. My father quickly followed. "Alrighty!" Spruce called, "Let's start walking!" We walked for what must have been hours, until we finally arrived at a forest. I thought we were going to stop, but we just kept walking. I sighed, but continued to walk. Placing one paw in front of the other, I could hear Fawn pouncing on fallen leaves. Laughing to myself, I trotted among the roots of the trees, then tripped and tumbled into Fawn. As we had just begun to wrestle, Spruce called out, "We're here!" I stood up, making sure to step on Fawn's tail. "Hey!" the brown kit shouted, and jumped, attempting to knock me over. "Kits," Brooklyn said sternly, "No fighting." Me and Fawn glanced at each other, then said in unison, "Of course not, Mother." Brooklyn shook her head in amusement, then pulled a blanket out from the woven basket. I pranced over to help lay it down. The sun filtered through the leaves, warming my soft pelt. I sat next to Fawn, and nipped at his ear playfully. Mother and Father carefully unpacked the picnic basket. All of my favorite foods; blueberry pie, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chocolate milk. I smiled softly to myself. We all shared the picnic, talking, laughing, generally having a lovely time. As the sun set into an evening sky, we began to pack up and head home.
