Reason for Her Blindness:It was late one autumn night, in a dark and ancient forest, by the light of a full moon that Channing lost her sight. The young filly had been separated from her herd earlier in the evening when she fell asleep under an oak tree and no one had woken her up. Lonely and afraid, Channing trudged along a forest path, dried leave crunching under her hooves. Suddenly, the silence was broken by the sound of a branch snapping. She froze and he ears darted forward. Silence... Out of the darkness, a large wild dog leapt out at her snarling. Channing reared and took off galloping as fast as her legs could take her, eyes wide in fear, the dog pursuing in chase, snapping at her heels. As she ran, more and more dogs leapt out from behind trees and bushes, attempting to cut her off. Quite soon, a pack of 7 or 8 dogs were chasing her. She took a sharp turn right off the path in an effort to shake them off, but she realized she soon realized she made a big mistake. Not to far ahead of her, was a wall of wild rose bushes, thorns sharp as the talons of an eagle. Channing glanced behind her to see that the dogs were still in pursuit. She had no choice. Channing ran through the thick wall at full speed, thorns tearing at her. Once she arrived on the other side, she slowed to a stop. She was blind. The thorns had scratched her eyes to to point were she could no longer see. To her luck, at least the dogs did not attempt to run through and only barked in frustration on the other side. Her scars healed with time, but sadly her vision never returned. To this day, Channing trembles whenever she hears the distant howls of wolves.
