Happy Pi day!! I was struck by inspiration, and so was this kalon! I'm excited to release my first beast upon you all <3

This kalon has created "The best pie ever"... What pie do they make, and how do they convince others it is the best?
You have one image or 50 words to describe the pie, as well as 500 words to describe how they convince everyone they have the best pie.
The image should only include the pie.

As you might guess, this is not a traditional pyop -- the p is for pie! The final design will be decided by the pie you create! I can't wait to see what you all come up with. :]

How they hype up their pie:

"Come try something you have NEVER tried before! It's fabulous! It's unique! It's PICKLE PIE!" Evan grinned widely as he directed the steady stream of curious onlookers his way. He heard various cries eeew or what?!? but still curiosity overrode all other thoughts or feelings.

"Now now, I know what you're thinking! But let me PROVE to you how awesome my pickle pie is! I have before me the pickiest eater known to all of kalon kind: a three year old toddler!" He grins before leaning down to offer his baby brother a slice, watching as the toddler nibbles on it... then finishes it off with gusto!

"You see? A pie for everyone! Spicy, tangy, sweet all in one! So go on folks, give it a try! And remember, you found it here first!"

"Check out my pie!":

The pie has been burnt so badly that it's now unrecognizable. There's not even a pile of ash, it's a black sooty stain on a red pie plate. Archimedes claims it was a Saskatoonberry Pie. There used to be a small ceramic blackbird in the middle. Eradicated.

How they hype up their pie:

Archimedes was entertaining house guests when the air suddenly began feeling thick, and he couldn't help but cough. His friend Whitey sniffed the air and wrinkled his nose.
"Hey buddy... Is something burning again?"
Archie felt his eyes widen and the next second he was flying into the kitchen at high speeds. There was a loud BOOM! and a black plume of smoke filtered out of the kitchen. Archie came out with a sopping wet expression on his face. He was feebly holding the pie plate, tears in his eyes. He sniffled and put the pie plate down on the table. He put down a few extra small plates and some forks. He just sat on the floor and stared at it. Everyone looked at him briefly before he gestured to the empty pie plate.
"Please... Please eat my pie... I swear it's the best pie I've ever made... I did it this time I promise..."
Someone whispered, "where's the pie? There's nothing left..."
Whitey puffed out his chest and picked up a fork. He pretending to scoop up some pie and put it on a plate. He pretending to eat the pie. When he put the fork in his mouth, he realized he accidentally scraped some ashes up and ate it. The foul taste made him cough, but he put a thumbs up, doubled over.
Archie beamed and gave a thumbs up back.
"See! I told you it was still the best pie ever!!! Please have some everyone!"
The rest of the group looked at Archie and Whitey like they were nuts. Soon enough, they all did the same and pretending to eat the burnt pie. Whatever it took to make Archie feel better.
Archie excused himself for a moment while he stepped back into the kitchen. His expression changed into something of a wicked grin. He wrung his hands together devilishly and chuckled to himself.
"Suckers..."

How they hype up their pie:

The golden glow of the setting sun indicated the day was coming to an end. It had been a mad rush of cleaning and upgrading old parts of the cafe. If the reopening was in a few days, the store had to be in perfect condition. Morgan was just about to leave when she heard a bell chime. The front door swung open to reveal an excited kalon. Their fur was exceptionally manicured, right down to the puff of their tail. The energy they walked in with seemed to brighten the slowly dimming store. Her eyes went down to the freshly baked pie in their paws, before meeting the newcomer's gaze. They were already striding towards her.

"Hey! I thought I saw someone through the window!" The laughter in their voice surprised Morgan. She’d had a quiet day, so the burst of liveliness was refreshing. Before another second could pass, they continued. "Thought I'd stop by after work and give you a small shop-warming gift! I'm Saffron from across the street."

The owner smiled, carefully taking the delivery from Saffron. She'd noticed the Salon across from her store. Though Morgan hadn't had the time to check it out. If her new friend's enthusiasm was anything to go by, she expected it to be just as welcoming as they were. "Thank you, that's very thoughtful of you. I'm Morgan."

They beamed at the praise. It wasn't often that Saffron cooked anything, let alone baked. They’d put a lot of effort into the pie to make it perfect. Visiting the cafe gave her an excuse to try something different. The kal wasted no time in showing off the part they were proudest of. "See the little braid things there? I'm a hairdresser by trade so I tried to make it a bit more personal. It's kind of combining both our worlds, in a way!"

The sentiment was hardly wasted on Morgan. It was one of the most thoughtful gifts she'd been given. Morgan placed the pie down on a nearby table, setting it up for them to share. They would be the first ‘patrons’ of the renovated cafe, which would be rather fitting. It really did feel like a lovely welcome to the street. “It looks incredible, Saffron. I think we should try some!”

"Check out my pie!":

A cosmic crackle pie has a buttery crust, dyed indigo from blueberry powder and speckled with edible silver flakes. The filling is a citrus-vanilla custard infused with tonic water for a faint glow. Swirls of pop rocks fizz with each bite, creating an electric sensation like you’re tasting the stars.

How they hype up their pie:

Zetta bursts into the room with a grin, holding up a dazzling cosmic crackle pie like it’s a trophy. Their voice practically fizzes with excitement, just like the pie itself.

“Alright, listen up, everybody! You’ve had pies before, sure—apple, cherry, maybe even a fancy little lemon meringue—but have you ever had a pie that dances? A pie that practically jumps into your mouth?? A pie that takes one bite and explodes with flavor like a supernova? No? Well, prepare yourself, because I present to you: the one, the only, the legendary cosmic crackle pie!”

Zetta dramatically removes the pie’s protective cover, revealing a mesmerizing indigo crust filled with a custard that seems to shimmer under the light.

“First, let’s talk about looks. This pie? It’s the universe in dessert form! A buttery, flaky crust colored an out-of-this-world indigo thanks to blueberry powder. A deep, dreamy citrus filling with just a kiss of vanilla…oh, and did I mention? It glows under certain lights. That’s right! This beauty has a little magic (or, uh, science) in it, thanks to a splash of tonic water that makes it subtly luminescent in UV light. Ever wanted to eat a piece of the night sky? Well, now you can!”

Zetta leans in closer, eyes sparkling with delight.

“But the real magic happens when you take a bite. Because inside this masterpiece is a surprise; an explosion, a fireworks show right on your tongue! That’s right, friends, because woven into this silky, citrusy custard are hidden bursts of crackling pop rocks. The moment it hits your tongue? Boom! A fizzy, electric sensation, like you just licked a comet’s tail!”

They gesture wildly, practically vibrating with enthusiasm.

“It’s not just a pie, it’s an experience. A journey across the galaxy, where tangy yuzu and vanilla stardust swirl together, where every bite fizzes and crackles like distant stars being born. It’s sweet, it’s tart, it’s got a little electric kick. Trust me, your taste buds will be writing this pie love letters for the rest of time.”

Zetta grabs a knife, slicing into the pie with a flourish, revealing the creamy, glowing filling inside. The scent of citrus and sugar fills the air. They plate a slice and push it forward, their smile beaming as they hand it over.

“So, what do you say? Are you ready to taste the cosmos? Take a bite…if you dare!”

They confidently cross their arms, waiting for the first brave soul to dig in. Zetta knows that the moment that first bite pops and fizzes, they’ll have everyone hooked.

Griff: You definitely went outside of the box! I know not all pies are dessert pies... but I don't know if I'd try a pickle pie lol -- even if a toddler ate it. They're braver than I am <3

Foxghost: The switch up this kal has??? An evil little gremlin, why else would you purposefully(?) burn pies and make your friends eat themm... This one made me laugh!

kyleskrtskrt: This was a close one! I loved the idea that they don't really convince their newfound friend to try the pie, but end up sharing it together, it's a really simple and sweet thought, with an obvious touch of care via the braided pieces of dough <3

I too would find a pie like this irresistible, and whether the intent or not I imagined the kal serving this pie to their crewmates on a spaceship lol -- a truly out of this world delectable! I love the detail that went into the flavoring and painting an image of the pie, the pop-rocks are a really fun inclusion!

Oh my gosh thank you so much!! Your imagination is absolutely correct, I have been going on a HUGE space kick lately and felt like my Kalon space crew needed a very enthusiastic food connoisseur (rather, an expert forager on alien planets) and felt like pop rocks were a fun little twist to a pie that someone just as crazy as Zetta would be willing to add!

Every year for Christmas we would get a chocolate orange in our stockings. One year my mother accidentally bought chocolate oranges that had pop rocks inside them…it was a very interesting surprise when you aren’t expecting it. That may have been the inspiration for this ^^”
