Many cats don't like Silver; Clarion used to avoid him back in the day. He'd only heard bad rumors on him. Of who he's hurt - of who he'd killed.It wasn't sure they where true (Silver insists he's never killed anybody!), but they scared him. Then the river flooded and Clarion was near death. Only Silver swept him up and to the safety of the mountains.
It's a bit more of a mentor-apprentice friendship in some ways; Silver is older than him and now guides the younger cat. Clarion needed direction in his life and Silver helps.

Frost and Ash had always gotten along well, specifically because of their opposite natures. Frost was extroverted and very energetic- the life to any party. Ash on the other hand has always been quite the wall flower, always trying to spend time by himself. Frost reminds Ash that not all cats are rude, and that they can be kind and understanding. They often spend many days talking in the meadow, exploring the large flowery field. Frost seems to bring this light into Ash's life that he never saw before, and is ever grateful for meeting Frost. Frost feels the same.
