eclipse was named after her unique markings and the fact that she was born during an eclipse.
when eclipse was born, it was during the first eclipse in over a hundred moons.
her mother was excited, she loved eclipses!
and when one of her kits came out in a ball of white, black, and tan fur...well that was even better!
it reminded her of how the moon shadows the sun and how it casts a white light around both planets.
eclipse also thinks her name resembles the darkness that spread through her when her mother and sisters; sun and moon; passed away, and then the light when she met her mate gorse.
now, even though her and gorse are seperated, she still has a ray of hope.
just like how the sun has a ray of hope that the moon will uncover its beautiful rays and show its true beauty.

And yes, while he does do that to some extent, the other meaning of his name coming from Greek kyrios, meaning lord, seems to fit him much better. Along with the name being borne to multiple Persian kings, including Cyrus the Great who conquered Babylon, which fits his forceful and destructive nature better than a bright a cheerful caretaker.
