while all are tucked in bed
I stand by open window
a rush inside my head

I can see the moon
the full glory of the sky
I stare and crane my head
as fear glints in my eyes

The moon is naught but the eye
of a terrible being in wake
after the death of a god
a terrible celestial snake

It opens its mouth and hisses
words I can't make out
it opens its gaping maw
and I'm taken somewhere without

Without the light of day
or the dark of night
to a place that is impossible
even for I to write

The other eye of the snake
the dark side of the moon
floating in an endless nothing
with a terrible hissing tune

I wake up in my bed
and I am all alone
I raise my trembling hands
my body naught but bones
