Lilypad dug her claws into the fresh dirt in the fall afternoon. Lilypad liked being free of responsibilities as a rouge but it wasn't what she truly wanted. The swift wind caught her unexpectantly and blew through her fur, not too roughly though. The pond stilled before her, her reflection staring with glassy eyes back at her. Lilypads and their flowers drifted through the water lazily, the koi swimming skillfully below them. Well what now? Was a question she always felt herself go back to. The lilypads' flowers looked just like the one her mother used to always wear... even the humming of birds and the peace of being a rouge couldn't let that memory shy away to the depths of the young she-cat's mind, no matter how much she wished it did.

Lightning struck loudly as Lilypad stood there, watching. Protecting. Loving her younger brothers, her mother wrapped around them to keep them warm in the heat of the storm. A dream, perhaps because they've all died long ago. Lilypad stared at her current adult self, unsure if she was reliving something she didn't want to. Her reflection, a younger, more accurate version of herself lay with her mother, belly grumbling. "Imma go get some berries mama!" Her younger self squeaked, rushing out into the storm stupidly and carelessly. Her mother called for her to return but she didn't hear her over the lightning that had just struck. A tree was hit, just beside their beaver-like den, crushing it.

Lilypad slapped her reflection roughly, making the koi flee in terror. The lilypad gifted to her by her mother long ago still sat upon her tawny head, reminding her of when she had something- rather, someone to look forward to spending time with.

'Dapple never expected to receive a gift in return for helping eir friend but ey treasure the gift because it was one of the first things Bramble crafted after studying to join em in the ranks of the Crafters.

'Dapple also keeps the hat very close and guard it with eir life because ey has a little tiny.... absolutely massive crush on Bramble ey has been hiding since the two of them were apprentices. Ey knows Bramble would at the very least be polite if ey confessed but there just never seemed to be a good time to talk to him about it. So in the meantime ey treasures the gift eir friend gave em.

Why, from her old humans, of course! Calypso's humans were travelers, always off visiting new and strange places. They sometimes brought her along, but more often than not, they had to leave her behind at home. They would always bring home such strange and new and wondrous things, though! The little hat was bought seemingly for Calypso, as one of her humans put it on her head practically the moment it was unpacked! She doesn't always wear it - but she does, sometimes, in the memory of the life she used to lead.

The words from the tom tumbled back to her, gaze downcast as she sat upon the border. He was gone. Well, maybe not, but there was little hope in such a thought, perhaps merely her mind itself, not ready to let go. Maybe he was right all that time ago...they should've held things off, there would be no way they'd work out...safely.
XXXXBut no, she had to be the selfish one - quite ironic for a feline who always put others first. But for once...she'd had something. Someone - that truly cared for her and would give their life for her in an instant. And unfortunately, he had.

She'd done as he had told her once the patrol appeared on the horizon. She'd ran unlike ever before, never sparing a glance back. Despite the screams, yowls and that heartbreaking cry - she'd never looked back. How could she have done such a thing... Perhaps she should've never left. He'd done it all to protect her - he promised her such. She would forever be grateful...but right now, the pain was too much to bear.
XXXXSuddenly, a cry sounded from above. Her green eyes flickered overhead for a moment, spying a bird circling above her. Great...she didn't want any visitors. Even if they happened to be feathered ones. she wanted to be alone.

But soon, the bird descended, landing in front of the grieving molly. "What do you want?" she asked it, forcing some sort of kindness in her voice. Something fell upon the ground, causing her to turn her attention toward it. A...hat?
