"Next customer..."
Melon spaced out. Scanning item after item. Her blue polo shirt with the text "Kal-mart" seemed to feel more and more uncomfortable as time went on.
"Hey, you good?" The customer questioned. She snapped out of it after a few seconds.
"Hm? Oh, yeah. Sorry about that." She looked over at the customers items.
Freeze-dried food, steal cups, fire wood..
"Say, where are you off too?" She looked up at her customer.
"Oh! I'm going up to the redwoods this weekend with my brother to camp! It's such a lovely place."
"Oh wow! Tell me more, I'd love to hear about it!" She smiled.
"Well, there's a small camp site by the Eel river. It's a family owned business, everyone there is so nice! It's very quiet, too. Im telling you, after the long week I've had all I need is a break! I can't wait."
That seemed nice... a camping trip. Just her and nature. She could picture it easily.
She would sit by her camp fire, wrapped in a blanket. In one paw she would have a marshmallow roasting stick. In the other paw, a cup of mint tea. All she could hear were crickets and frogs. The stars would cover the sky, allowing her to stargaze for hours. She would bring her tseliscope to look at the moon, and try her best to identify the constellations. In the morning, she would walk down to the river and take a nice swim, or bask in the sun. She would go for a hike every day, and make some of her favorite sausages on the fire. And it would just be her, no other kal. Just her and her thoughts, all alone at last. Maybe it was time for a much needed break...

“The cool flow of the ocean around her, the beams of sunlight shooting through the water.. going to snorkel alongside coral reefs was like a dream for her, and now it was true! Midori smiled as she effortlessly swished through the waves, the bright colors of the coral and shining of the bright fish scales were a sight to marvel at in themselves. She felt like she could never run out of energy. There was too much to look at!

She giggled internally as she came face to face with a sea turtle, reaching out a paw to give it a careful pet on the top of its shell. It immediately swam away, but more trailed behind it and she watched in awe as the swam away gracefully with the waves. Midori continued her swim around the island, popping up occasionally for the needed fresh breath of air. Eventually she came back ashore to sit on the beach for a little while, watching the bubbles and ripples and colors of everything. Her heart was full of happiness and excitement.

Midori laid back to watch the summery clouds drift lazily along the impossibly blue sky, trying to make cute or funny shapes out of every single one. She almost wished she had a friend to share these moments with, but quickly shook it off. She came here for much needed time to herself, and it’s not like she minded being alone. She was her own favorite person to spend time with after all.

Eventually she decided to go a bit farther up the beach for a treat, her fur drying a little funny because of swimming in the salty ocean. Midori decided on a shaved ice stand despite the long line. When she finally did get to the front and ordered her favorite lemon flavor, the cashier told her that the person ahead of her had pre-paid for her order. She smiled wide and repaid the favor for the person behind her, and went off to put her feet in the water while enjoying her cool treat.

Everything in her screamed and wanted to leap for joy as the man behind the counter handed her the blue and pink box she had so patiently waited in line for. After waiting for thirty or so minutes, the cat burger was finally hers! Zelda giddily took the box and her cup of raspberry black tea, quickly thanking the vendor before scurrying off for the nearest bench.

As she sat on the cool cyan metal, Zelda let out a contented sigh. Looking around at the various people wandering the quaint little square, she couldn't help but smile brighter. The sounds of laughter and sights of joy lifted her heart higher than she thought possible. The whole place radiated great vibes that simply rolled the stress from one's shoulders, allowing a safe place to relax. At least, it did for Zelda anyway.

Work was becoming far too stressful, and home had one too many things piling up to get to. She needed a break, and fast. So when she saw the ad on her social media for Fantasialand's newest food offerings, she knew she had to take action.

Food is her ultimate love language, especially when it is crafted to look fun, wacky or outright adorable. It's simply the best comfort to just sit down and enjoy wonderfully blended flavors, be it sweet or savory. Which is exactly what she couldn't wait to do with this cat burger. Offering a quick thanks for the meal, Zelda took a quick sip of her tea and opened the box.

Though the cat burger was definitely at the top of her priority list, she couldn't really pick a favorite from the day's trip. There were too many different and wonderful flavors to honestly pick! There was the cheesy, oily goodness of the pizza pretzel, the sweet and tart explosion of the apple pie cupcake, and the sharp bite of the sea-salt doughnut to just name a few. Honestly, the amount of food she consumed in one day probably should've made her flinch, especially now that she would have to eye her nearly empty wallet through the rest of the week. However, today was perfect in every possible way. She rode some rides, ate a lot of good food and saw an amazing firework show to top it all off.

Yes, today was simply the best vacation getaway Zelda could ask for.

Shallow was just finishing cramming the last of her things into her suitcase with the final sound of the zipper clinking at the end of its road, "And that is exactly why Terry is coming on this trip with me and not you, my 'voice of reason'."

She placed the suitcase on its wheels and drug it along with her as she existed her room. The fancy marble flooring making a satisfying sound under her shoes as she click-clacked her way to the front door.
"Besides, you said you had that 'really important' test coming up, so I couldn't bring you even if I had asked you to."

"Shallow, I'm being serious. You can't just take an expensive trip every time something comes up you don't want to have to deal with." they said chasing after her, "I may not be rich like you, but you do realize this doesn't solve anything?"

Shallow stopped at the the door, giving a cheeky smile to their friend, "That's why I call it my 'perfect getaway vacation', to get-away from the problems."

"You know they'll be waiting for you when you get back? It's not like they disappear while you're gone."

Shallow opened the door and stepped out, taking a deep breath of the fresh spring air before turning back to them, "Well, it always seems to work out in the end now doesn't it? Be good now and enjoy the luxuries of my humble abode~"

"It's hardly 'humble'.... Well, have a good trip I guess," they sighed, placing they're hands on their hips as they stood in the doorway, "Where did you say you were going this time?"

"Don't know yet~!"

"Shallow! What if you didn't pack accordingly to wherever you're going!?"

"Then I'll just have to buy the latest fashion while I'm there. Ciao~"

Shallow has difficulties handling certain things since she moved out of her parent's home, and one of those is having to deal with all the grownup responsibilities she didn't have to worry about while living with her even wealthier parents.
So she takes a one week vacation to a random destination to take a break from the stress of the problem, and it somehow helps her cool off so that she can handle it and get whatever it is done. Usually with the help of a friend, but she's making progress.

This trip in particular will place her in the beautiful city of Tokyo, despite her packing for a tropical destination. But like she said, she'd just buy whatever fashion suits the environment, and maybe an extra suitcase or two on her way back for all the things she'll have purchased.

Gently placing the small duffel down by the door, Rosary looked up to see her friend, who was just finishing putting some snacks into a small bag before zipping it up.

"And this should do for your on-the-road snacks. Remind me again why you're choosing to drive all the way to the Tulip Festival instead of taking a plane like a normal person? I mean honestly you could wait four more days, relax at home, and then take like, one bag and fly there. But instead you choose to drive which will take you five days to get there, counting on the fact you don't run into any trouble on the road, I just don't see why that's much of a great idea."

Giving a gentle sigh Rosary gave a quick shake of her head before taking the bag from her friend with a soft smile on her face.

"I've already told you, the drive adds to the vacation experience! Instead of sitting in a boring old plane, I get to drive! See the country roads, feel the wind in my hair! Experience life. You know, every year my mom and I used to drive to the Tulip Festival, we'd made this routine route that we'd take every time, we'd stop at the exact same stops each and every year, and it's a tradition that I'm going to carry out, even if it's just me this year. I'm going to set out, make all the same extra stops, and end my vacation with the Tulip Festival! And from there I'll bring home a new tulip to add to the tulip garden."
