Clan: Peak Clan
Prompt:
It was a cold leaf-bare morning, definitely below freezing. At this point the den was berried in almost ten feat of snow, and it was going to get worse. The weather was thick with a cold winter storm, and ice was forming inside the caves where water leaked through. It was dark for Peak clan, and they weren't getting out of this till new leaf arrived. The ground was slick, ice covered, and burned the toes of the cats that walked along the small hallways that have been recently dug out, as the straw, moss, and leaves were all given to the queens and there kits.
SunStar was burning with fear, but hid it amazingly amongst the small crew. He imagined that he needed to confide in his clan mates on what the next thing they should do to keep going in this crisis. The golden cat pondered for a moment, thinking about how to separate the food, and ration what they have left. Perhaps they could measure by the size of the smallest kit they have to make it last the longest, or at worst Sun imagined digging through the snow to attempt a hunting party.
An almost black tabby walked into the leaders abode. The deeply striped deputy stared cautiously at SunStar with golden eyes that matched his leaders. The two of them stayed quiet at first, but the silence was rattling them. The only noise herd throughout the clan base was crying kits which were quickly hushed by the queens with distant nuzzling purrs.
"I have a prompt." SunStar gazed quietly at his deputy, curious to see how his friend would react, but all he got her fixations on the scars that wrapped around right eye and torn up ears. "Perhaps you can humor me."
The deputy nodded his head, and stepped in to the leaders den further so that the conversation could be kept between the two of them. "What do you think would cheer the clan members spirits?" SunStar questioned quietly, in an almost inaudible tone.
The whisper shocked CrowMask, the deputy, however, as the black cat stepped back a bit, and his eyes widened a tad for a second, but quickly returned to their normal state. Crow looked at Sun speculatively as he expected the question to be more about the food shortage then of entertainment.
Eventually, the deputy spoke up. "Perhaps a group story telling?"
This perked SunStar up from his downward mood. Yes, a story telling would do marvelous things for the whole clan. Even the kits could join in with their mothers, so it was an easy thing to lean towards. "Why not." He responded in a calm voice. "Go fetch everyone and tell them to meet up in the nursery. That is the biggest den in this hovel."
A smile pulled through on Crow. "Of coarse, but do you really think you should be calling the place you rule over a hovel?"
