Oekaki rules

All rules regarding forum conduct, child-friendly content, and art use/creation also apply to the Oekaki, but there are also some specific rules that apply only to the Oekaki forums.

Oekaki Rules

Keep comments polite, helpful, and relevant to the artwork. Do not start discussions or debates. Critique is allowed if requested by the artist but insults are not welcome.
Make an effort to post your drawing in the correct board. Continued intentional misuse of the forum categories may result in disciplinary action. You can view descriptions of what each board is for in the forum index.
Don't spam the Oekaki. Your drawing should show intention and a modest amount of effort. We do not allow random scribbles, simple shapes, or empty/solid color canvases, nor should you post advertisements for trades, streams, or other threads. Covered drawings must still follow the oekaki rules and have art visible, even if they are WIPs.
Don't create Oekaki topics just to share art you've created elsewhere. Art drawn in another program should be posted in the appropriate board (example: non-Oekaki adoptable characters go in User-made Adoptables).
Don't make Oekaki drawings with just words or puzzles written on them. The Oekaki is for sharing artwork, not for displaying a written message or playing a forum game.
If using an editable you must follow the artist's rules. This may include leaving a signature/watermark layer on the final image, or may prevent you from selling colored-in versions as adoptables.
Don't post blank canvases in the contests board. Contests may be posted there only if you provide a recognizable lineart or relevant background for contestants to use in their entries. If you don't need people to edit something in particular, go to the Regular Art Competitions Board to create your topic. You can still make a rule that your contestants make their entries in the Oekaki boards if you prefer it that way. For more specific rules about contests please view this thread.
Specific rules apply to the the Adoptable boards on the Oekaki:
- The Oekaki is for making and sharing art in the Oekaki program. If you’d like to use another program to create your adoptables, please post them in user-made adopts or character design shops. “Cover adoptables” are not permitted, except for “milestone” adoptables in which case the cover must still follow Oekaki rules.
- You may sell Oekaki art/adoptables for CS pets/items/C$, allowed offsite currency, and dA points/real currency. Keep in mind that CS staff are unable to assist with transactions gone wrong involving other site currency or real currency.
  - Any real currency discussion must occur offsite; please link to where you can be contacted. Do not discuss real currency transactions on CS.
- Post your adoptables in the correct board. If you want to create just a few adopts, use the Adoptables 1: Independent/One-Off board. If you want to create a closed species, community, and intend to make many adoptables, use the Adoptables 2: Closed Species/Communities board.
- Follow the rules outlined by the adopt creator(s). Many species owners have their own rules that you must follow in order to successfully participate in their species, so be sure to read their rules before posting. CS staff may enforce a thread owner’s rules if necessary. Note that species rules may not circumvent our official site rules.
- All Adoptable Oekaki submissions must be judged no later than 1 month after their end date. Staff may intervene if the user fails to select a winner after 1 month. Failure to judge a contest after being reminded may result in a board warning.
- Users are bound to the species rules published at the time that the user receives the adopt. If a species owner adds a new rule, they cannot punish players for breaking the rule before it was added. This includes revoking or rehoming adopts. Updated adoptable rules apply only to adopts made after the rule was published.
- Paid-entry raffles are not permitted. You may not charge users for the chance to win something.
- Competitions with entries requiring artistic/creative effort must end with a winner. The promised prize (in this case the character design) must be awarded at the end of the contest to an entrant, so be sure you want to give the character away. You may only change your mind if there are no forms that meet the competition requirement.
- If you want to transfer your species to another player, then you will need to notify CS staff beforehand. More information on transferring thread ownership can be found here.

Deerfly
────────────
Insectoid, cervine

The Deerfly is a colorful, iridescent cervine with traits similar to a dragonfly, including an armored exoskeleton, long semi-flexible tail, and two pairs of wings. They have large eyes, small deer-like ears, and two small horns similar to a roe deer's.

These tiny, deer-like creatures can most often be found by bodies of water, particularly creeks, streams, and rivers. While they often gather in herds for protection and companionship, they are solitary creatures at heart. They are light enough to fly, and can do so for short distances. Bucks will fight during the spring over mates. During spring, they also shed their worn and old chitin, which is tough, durable, and very shiny, and can be used to make armor or jewelry.

Driren
────────────
Ursidae

Driren are a large, hulking creature, with soft, thin fur, and four eyes. They have six legs, four front, two hind, and while their hind legs are shaped similarly to a dog's, they walk on the knuckles of their front legs similarly to a gorilla. They have a short, doberman-like tail.

Maniwyvern
────────────
Avian

The Maniwyvern is a large bird with three eyes and a magnificent crest running down from their forehead to their tail. Their wings have two claws each, and they use their wings as supplementary legs when traveling on land, much like a wyvern does.

Maniwyverns tend to travel in flocks of up to a hundred individuals, and can remember and pass down information for generations. They are very family-oriented, and anyone who threatens their chicks will face the fury of a hundred snapping beaks. They live in community dens, which they love to decorate with shiny trinkets and prizes. They can use the third eye on their foreheads to look into the future, and the older a Maniwyvern is, the stronger this ability becomes.

Rylabi
────────────
Ungulate, canid

Rylabi are slender, graceful creatures, with large pointed ears and soft woolly fur. Their front legs are much larger than their back legs. They have a fluffy, curly tail, and a small mane of fur running from their forehead to the base of their skulls.

The Rylabi live in small herds on grassy plains and mountainsides. Their wool keeps them warm during the winter, and feels like what one might think a cloud would feel like until you learn it's made out of water vapor. To communicate to one another, they sing soft, gentle melodies. A herd of them is called a chorus for that very reason— when they gather together, their melodies overlap and mix until it sounds like an eerie song. A popular legend is that, if you befriend a Rylabi, they will eat your bad dreams for you, though that rumor has never been verified.

Sleiprunner

Equine

Sleiprunners are a sturdy draft horse with eight legs, a feathery mane and tail, and a single, antler-like horn that has a ball of energy floating in front of it.

Named after Sleipnir, the horse of legend, it is said that Sleiprunners were raised by the Gods of Winter. Their feathered coats keep them warm in the cold environments they prefer, and the ball of energy they carry with them is as warm as any campfire. Foals are born with a single, straight horn and no energy, as the distinctive branched antler and glowing energy come with age and experience. These horses are very intelligent and very, very loyal, and will only pick one rider whom they will remain with for their very long lives.

Stalker
────────────
Canid, reptilian

The Stalkers are a thin, nearly skeletal creature with no eyes and long, rabbit-like ears. They have a long, reptile-like tail which they use to balance. While they prefer to run on four legs, they can and will stand on their hind legs, and their front paws are flexible enough to be used as hands.

Stalkers are subterranean creatures who have very recently begun migrating to the surface world. Though they are totally blind, they use their keen ears to listen for danger, and use echolocation to keep track of their surroundings. They are solitary creatures, and will only meet up with other Stalkers to care for their young. Like their name suggests, Stalkers are extremely quiet, and will often follow things it finds fascinating for hours at a time. They like to steal interesting-feeling objects, only to leave them somewhere random later. It is theorized that Driren and Stalkers may be genetically related, and hybrid offspring may be possible sometime in the future.

Marumi Dress-Up!

hello! ^o^ I've been working on this for the past few days! I'm so excited to finally post it.
this is a "dress-up" game for the species Marumis! The lines are also giftlines and can be edited/recolored to suit your own Marumi.

YOU CAN STILL PLAY if you don't have a Marumi yet! <3 if you don't have your own Marumi to color-in on the lines, you can dress Mayuri, the mascot (she's posing as the model above in the cover.)

I put as many things I could possibly fit in here without creating a bomb for people's computers. 😂 it might take just a few extra seconds to load up, but it will I promise!

oekaki is fairly limited in this way unfortunately, so it might not have Every option you can think of, but I hope it's still fun to play with! :] if you'd like to change the looks of some kinds of clothing, you can try re-coloring them, or changing the layer order to overlap them in different ways. I've also included a sheet of "clip on" design features like gemstones and buttons that you can add to any item of clothing to spice it up.

a big heads up - most of the "headwear" and "tail" items only fit the basic marumi lines that I've provided. so sorry about that! Most of the body items should be okay even with edits. I just can't predict all the ways in which you might want to make edits. :> but you can change the lines as little or as much as you want to! if you like some of the accessories I've provided but they need to be re-lined in order to fit your Marumi's edits, please feel free to copy/re-work whatever you need from the base file.

if you'd like to post your colored-in drawing anywhere offsite, please credit my toyhouse account "BlithelyBlue" for the base artwork! ^^

I haven't looked at the timer as of writing this but while it's not right... it's also not wrong, ya feel? probably the correct time is like 2/3rds of whatever the timer says aha

I wasn't able to include every flag in the LGBT+ community because oekaki was starting to reach its functional limit with the number of layers I have in here! Please do not feel that your identity has been forgotten if you don't see your flag in here - I only included four possibilities. but I did try to pick examples from some of the more common patterns (like 5 stripes, 4 stripes) that can be recolored to personal preferences! I have also left a blank template if you would like to create an entirely new flag.

In terms of lore, think of them as a species on their own planet- of course, this planet is part of my universe (Where Galaghar and Earth exists) so have fun coming up with ideas, there aren't any restrictions honestly. In the future I will be hopefully using this species in my story, so keep that in mind, that whatever lore for the species you come up with may not be the same.

You can make adopts if you wish! If you want, obviously you can donate to me and I won't complain, lol! But you can keep the profit.

Welcome to Pine Valley Ranch adopts! Every user will be able to claim a randomized founder to start off! After that, Pine Valley quarter horses can be “bought” through the auction center! All adopts beside customs will be free. Our auction center currently had two options, both with limited slots! Option one is applying for a horse in the loose auction pen. You have a 100% chance of getting a horse, and the base color and pattern will be completely randomly generated. Option two is through our main auction. You’ll know what color the horse is ahead of time but watch out! These horses are very popular and there is only a 75% chance of winning the horse you choose.

• Do not claim the species as your own

• These are not official pine valley horses and may not be used as such

• You may at least have a basic grasp on color genetics (know what makes up the base coats at least. Im not the greatest myself, but ill try to help anyway i can!)

• Do not make a cover

• Include phenotype and genotype

• You must be active in the species! Non owners will not be considered for an artist position. We want someone who enjoys and participates with PV!
