He doesn't feel romantic urges himself, but he's willing to tolerate wooing advances to get what he wants and where he wants to be -- and he might have to tolerate a lot of it with Nomad, if he's observed him correctly.

Shelby's near-myth status makes him a tantalizing catch, though he's little more than a trophy mark, as far as Lij is concerned, as he doesn't really have a true social or wealth status beyond being very hard to catch up to -- and not in the same sense as a racer. Even so, even with his "in name only" rewards... he's got mystique that, if nothing else, might ease Lij's boredom, one day.

The irony of hooking Heaven into his shenanigans is almost too delicious for Lij to bear. Don't get him wrong, he's respectful of her shy, already-wounded heart, but he also sees her as this nigh-untouchable local avatar of kindness and love - Agape on four hooves with a side of mild heartbreak trauma - a near direct opposite to Lij's own numbness to romance and things beyond a very self-centered version of Ludus. It'd be a great story to tell one day. Maybe.
But also, he wouldn't really have anything to gain from flirting with her - no notoriety or fame that he can wrangle into an advantage out of his own situation. The idea is fun but he'd prefer to wait and see if there's a reward someday.

At the end of the day, Scipio lusts after the social status he can acquire from her.

Kaari is a challenge he can't resist. Gorgeous, spirited, confident, with with just the right amount of fight. Enough to make the pursuit that more compelling, and the potential submission of such a vivid character. It's an exciting thought.
Scipio craves the instant gratification of Kaari's, inevitable, and full surrender.

Ianna is Scipio's ideal candidate. She's pretty, in her own right, if not a little on the plain side. Naive, kind, a zebra with a neverending hopeful outlook on the world.

The universe was never kind to Toross.

The day he was born, the people under his father's rule celebrated, with hearty cheer and excitement. There was wine, and a seemingly endless feast-- for Toross was said to be the fated child who would herald the end of the hard times. He would bring them freedom, and happiness, and abundance-- and for a kingdom that had never known peace, the prophecy was all they had, and they clung to it fiercely.

But Toross was born... wrong. He was born weak. His birth nearly killed his mother, the one who the king loved more than anything else in the world, and so Toross was resented almost immediately. "He does not bring anything good," the king snarled to his right hand. "He is cursed."

This ill luck followed Toross for the rest of his life. Eventually he was shunned from the kingdom altogether, and so out of desperation he became a fighter. Many payed decent coin for the chance to spar against the exiled son of the king. His frail body quickly bore the scars from these duels. Always, Toross lost. Still, they fought him, each battle paving new wounds that would remain to tell his story.

But Toross was no fighter. He didn't like to fight. It made him feel sick inside each time he saw blood spilled. And he didn't resent, or hate-- not even the fighter who took his ear, not the fighter who shattered his horn, not even the fighter who rendered him blind in one eye.

In fact, Toross kept a secret... he lost on purpose. His blade had never drawn blood from another, and never would. He had read the words somewhere, in some old book, and carried them in his heart evermore after that. "The world is cruel, therefore I won't be."

Mercer had never seen so many figs in one place.The grove sprawled beyond the watering hole, the trees heavy with glistening fruits. Sweetness perfumed the air as zebras from many herds wandered beneath the branches, eating until their bellies were full before moving on. Mercer, however, did not move on.

At first, she only wanted a few extra.The last dry season had been particularly rough and the memory of her empty stomach still clung to her like dust. While others grazed and talked together, Mercer began piling figs carefully between tangled roots. "One day this grove will be bare. Then who will be prepared?" she muttered to herself, gathering more and more of the fruits. She returned over and over, gathering far more fruits than she could ever eat. Her muzzle became sticky with juice, and she kept collecting even when her stomach began to ache.

She continued growing her hoard, drawing the attention of some of the other zebras. One evening, a young foal approached her pile with hopeful eyes. "Could I have one?" Mercer stepped in front of the figs, her ears pinned. "Find your own." The foal stared at the mound behind him, confusion evident in her features. "But there are hundreds right here!" "And they are MINE!" Word spread quickly after this, causing the others to avoid Mercer. While the herd rested together near the water, she remained alone beside her hoard and protected it from imagined thieves. Every rustle of the grass made her ears twitch and every shadow was regarded as a threat. Days passed like this until the rains came.

The storm swept through the grove with roaring winds and sheets of rain. Mercer pressed herself over her precious pile, trying desperately to shield it. But figs burst beneath the rain, turning into sour mush beneath her. Rivers of purple pulp streamed through the dirt and carried the rest of the pile with it. By morning, the grove smelled rotten. The mare stood among the ruined fruit, exhausted and hungry. Her stomach churned from days of overeating, and now almost everything she'd gathered was inedible.

Across the clearing, the rest of the herd grazed calmly together. None of them were concerned, as they'd already eaten what they needed and had lost nothing. An older mare approached Mercer slowly, studying the spoiled figs around her hooves. "You guarded all of this, yet you enjoyed none of it." She lowered her head as she realized she couldn't remember the taste of the figs anymore. All she remembered was the fear of losing them. The older mare nudged a single perfect fig toward her. "Food fills the belly, but greed empties it."

One ear torn away, a leg missing, one eye gone entirely, her wounds still fresh and bleeding into the dirt beneath her.

──►“I am so glad you asked, darling~!” Marble sighed dramatically, placing a paw over her chest. “There’s quite the ache in my heart.” Immediately concerned, Brook hurried over with a hollowed nut shell used to amplify sound. He pressed it gently against her chest, lowering his ear to listen for irregular breathing.
──►Marble took full advantage. With a giggle, she wrapped a paw around him and yanked him directly against her fur.
──►“You’ve cured me, doc! Only true love could heal a heart like this!” Her purring rumbled against him. “Or is it true love’s kiss?”
──►“W-what are you doing!?” Brook sputtered, shoving himself free while Marble laughed openly beside him. “Stop messing with me,” he muttered, quickly turning away to fuss with nearby herbs instead. We’ve just met. There’s no way she actually means any of this.
──►Ever since then, they’ve always been like this. Marble calls him “my love,” flirts shamelessly, and insists she adores him. Every single time, Brook only blushes, assumes he’s reading too deeply into it, and brushes her off entirely.

The Beginning:
It was a dark and dreary night. Starsong was just a kitten, barely 3 months old when she awoke to her mother's crying.
"What's wrong, Momma?" She asked with pure kitten innocence.
Her mom just cried harder. And then, Starsong, then Starkit, saw it...the lifeless body of her sister. Her sobs filled the den, mixing with her mother's. After a while, their cries brought the rest of the clan running. Rosefluff and Dragonstar quickly began consoling Starsong's mom, and Marigoldwing began to console Starsong herself.
"Come here, little one," said Marigoldwing.
Stubbornly, Starsong shook her head and said, "No! I won't leave her!"
Marigoldwing sighed. "I'm sorry, little one; she's gone."
Starkit didn't say anything and just snuggled deeper into her sister.
Marigoldwing shook her head and curled around the kitten. The kitten cried into the Tutor's fur, crying herself back into sleep. Once the kitten was once again asleep, the adults buried Starkit's sister.
**Years later**
"Starpaw, come on, sweetheart," called Marigoldwing. "It's time for your next lesson. You do want to become a Tutor someday, right?"
Starpaw sighed. It had been years since her sister had passed of a mysterious illness, but still the apprentice refused to believe her sister was gone.
Marigoldwing entered the clearing where she knew the apprentice would be. The clearing where Starpaw's sister was buried.
"Please," Marigoldwing said. "You're a bright young kitten; you can't still believe she's not gone."
Starpaw looked at Marigoldwing. "She's NOT gone!" she hissed.
Marigoldwing sighed, sitting beside the apprentice. The Tutor knew she couldn’t change the apprentice's mind. "Ok, ok. At least come to your lesson? Please?" the Tutor replied.
Starpaw tore her eyes from the makeshift grave, and trotted back to the Tutor's den.
**A few years later**
"Starsong? Yo! Earth to Starsong!" said one of the other Tutor Apprentice's.
"Huh? Oh, sorry; what's up, Wolfstrike?" replied Starsong.
"You good? You were staring off into space for quite a while," the other cat, gentler than his name suggested, answered.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Starsong said. "Just thinking about my sister."
Wolfstrike exchanged a worried glance with Marigoldwing. He knew that Starsong refused to believe that her sister was dead, and it worried him, especially since it was now impacting her daily life. He'd have to talk with the Tutor privately sometime soon.
"I'm fine, man," Starsong said, catching Wolfstrike's attention. "Don't worry about me; Marigoldwing does enough of that."
The Tutor chuckled. "Hey, someone has to!" she said.
"Yeah, well, you and my mom do enough worrying about me. I don't need even more worrywarts," replied Starsong, laughing. The trio chuckled, then went about with their jobs.
