We are taking a new approach to animal crossing. Here's what's different:

- you'll see more animal species
- more personalities
- personalities not gender locked
- more hobbies
- more native fruit/flowers
- no villager count limit

Cranky = hot-tempered, routine oriented
Smug = ambitious, proud

Normal is now Sweetie = kind, thoughtful
Sisterly is now Big Sib (older sibling) = nurturing, ride-or-die, protective
Peppy = extroverted, playful, hype man
Snooty = snob, high expectations

Daydreamer = head in the clouds, imaginative
Jokester = life of the party, never serious
Old-soul = serious, mature, introspective
Scholarly = book lovers, knowledgeable

Wallflower = shy, introverted, tough nut to crack
Romantic = idealistic, affectionate
Broody = moody, loner type
Wild card = unpredictable, devil-may-care, spontaneous

1. Be respectful.
We are welcoming and kind here

2. I don't own animal crossing, but if you want to participate in the Islanders community you will need villagers created by species artists.
You can include your own acnh villager ocs as npcs in your lore

3. Leveling is optional
it's ok to adopt villagers and leave it at that. It's not a requirement to keep your oc

4. We will eventually have a discord
but i am in no hurry. I want to build up on cs first

5. Villagers may be inspired by media characters but not 1 to 1 copies

6. You cannot sell your villagers. Only trade them for other villagers or art.
any friendship level acquired will go to 0 when traded

7. If anyone gives you problems or you have questions, you can message me (BlueEyedKite) at any point

For Artists

⛭ any style is welcome: anime, chibi, cartoon, realistic. Whatever gets the adopts out

⛭ any real world animal/bug species is a-okay, but
save mythical creatures: kirin, kelpies, dragons, cerberus, kitsune etc for events

⛭ gotta make 3 adopts before creating a villager for yourself ✨️

⛭ in place of runner ups, award Bell Vouchers or Taiilors Tickets. Nook Miles Tickets should be sparingly given

⛭ try to inject some personality into your adopts. Avoid a static, smiling villager. Have them interact with the background or be in the middle of something. Let your creativity flow!

⛭ by creating adopts for the community, you agree to allow the owners to color in the adopt. So they might redeem their vouchers/tickets

☼ How to get started
"note. you do not have to arpg level if you don't want to. below is optional"


Step 1. Create a storage topic that will be your "island". It needs to have a name and link back to the Islanders species page
- you cannot call dibs on a name, but try and look through the archive before naming yours so we don't have repeats

Step 2. Create a player villager.
- think of them like the main character for all your arpg leveling

Step 3. Submit your island to be registered at the arpg leveling topic

Step 4. Apply for open villager adopts

Step 5. Level your island/villagers for species currency
- leveling prompts you can find here

Step 6. Spend your species currency at the Islanders store

Step 7. Profit

Q: why are the villagers anthro? Why don't they look like ac style?
A: i like drawing them more humanized but other artists, or you, can draw your villagers in another style. No biggie

Q: i am too lazy to level. Don't you have options with less effort?
A: you don't have to level if you don't want to. But also, during events there will be more rng based currency gains yeah

Q: am I gonna be in debt?
A: no. no. We're not doing bell grinding. It's relationships. Bonding. I mean you do you in your lore... i guess

Q: so I get a player villager? It doesn't cost anything?
A: nope. It's free!

Q: and i can draw it off site?
A: yup! Just make sure the ref is clear so when you submit arpg art I can tell it's the same character ^^

What's the deal with Kite's villagers?

You may notice the competitions for my villager adopts differ from the other artists. Let me explain:

Every day you have until rollover to say something to the villager. It could be a question, maybe you hype up your island, if you have other villagers you can use them to entice the newcomer.

Whatever route you take, at rollover, I respond as the villager. You can post once per day up until the close date. After the close date, the villager will decide who they want to go home with. Should you win the villager, you are free to immediately change the name, personality, and basically do what you want with your new oc.

Now it's not random how the villager will respond. I will put clues about the villager's likes and dislikes, their hobbies, and other fun facts hidden in the drawing. Each villager has a personality already set. 3 hobbies. And 3 likes and 3 dislikes.

For example, if you offer a villager your island which is cottagecore themed, but one of their hobbies is graffiti art, it may not be a selling point to gush about all your beige and cream decor.

How could you tell they are into graffiti art? Well there might be a spray can tucked behind a rock.

If, instead of yapping about your cottagecore island, you mention how you are SO INTO art right now. That might sway the villager.

Does this make sense? It's like speed dating except you are trying to impress a villager ^^;
