The first time Pipit got the chance to host holiday celebrations in her own space was the very first time she truly enjoyed all the associated festivities. She’s always done her best to join in, she’s no wet blanket, but in years past she couldn’t escape the feeling that she was just playing along to make other folks happy. Finally, a few years back, it was her turn to craft the perfect hot-chocolate party, her turn to organize the gift exchange, and her turn to decorate the wishing box for the new year. She loves the holidays now, and even on years she doesn’t contribute, she’s able to better appreciate the work that goes into them.

The year that the town hosted the great Easter Egg hunt would by far be her favorite memory thus far. All the snacks and the little trinket booths of the town's artists were by far super exciting, and she loved visiting each booth for a tasty treat or shiny trinket. But the best part of the whole day was when everybody lined up for the egg hunt! Barreling through the field, digging under trees, jumping over - and sometimes in - bushes was exhilarating and an experience she won't soon forget. She ended up walking home that day with a belly full, a new, shiny, hand-made necklace, fur coated in dirt and leaves and a whole basket full of colorful eggs.

Charlotte's favorite holiday memory is a few years back when her little sister was born around Christmas time. Her mama and papa presented her darling little sister to her, her little cheeks red from the frosty cold outside and Charlotte just melted. The baby was so tiny and precious and she knew she'd protect her with her life.

Come Christmas day the whole family sat by the hearth, drinking hot chocolate while watching little Annabeth sleep, her red curls illuminated by the dancing firelight. Charlotte knew she'd never forget this moment. From that day on, they had a family tradition of drinking hot chocolate by the fire Christmas day while watching Annabeth grow bigger and bigger, her gummy smile and sweet curls lighting up their heart and lives during the holiday.

winner! while i loved the other two entries and the character development they provided, this entry surprised me with an unconventional answer, adding a level of creativity in completing the prompt that merited extra points.
