why?: When Rocket was being trained to be ridden one of the men accidentally hurt her and she ended up reacting trying to get him off her back. She ended up breaking his legs and her owner struck at her before selling her to a kind lady who knew how to handle and work with horses. The damage was done though and she is now afraid of men.

She was attacked by a couple dogs when she was younger…Luckily, they didn’t manage to hurt her. Another dog came to her rescue, a beautiful black lab. The dogs that attacked her were a Doberman and Rottweiler. Now, she’s absolutely terrified of those breeds. She and the black lab were sent to another place. There’s no Dobermans or Rottweilers neighboring where they are. That’s good at least, but it’s no good that she’s fearful.

what are they afraid of: Hound has always been afraid.
why?: Life has not been kind to him. The moment he came into this world onto the small, dusty corral pen, his life was destined for strife. It wasn't that all of the hands he had been passed to were unkind, but many were uneducated and many did not know how to help such a frightened horse that only knew instability. He learned that people approached him less and didn't try to move him around nearly as much when he was scary. When they labeled him mean. So it stuck.

It's taken a lot of work to undo that learned fear. It's not perfect, he's still flighty and bitey, but it's not nearly as bad as when he first came off that trailer. And he's not going anywhere.
