the coyotes outside are carrying on like usual, their shrill yips and howls cutting through the still evening air. they used to scare you, but you've become used to their chaotic chorus, it's almost become a comforting sound. you turn back to the book you're reading, when a different noise can be heard over the coyotes high pitched screaming. it sends a chill down your spine, not knowing what this unfamiliar noise is. it sounds almost as if something is trying (and failing) to howl alongside the coyotes. it reminds you of the terrifying noises cats make when they fight, or like the scream of a mountain lion. your sudden realization makes you jump up from your cozy couch, blanket and book falling loudly to the floor. you're too excited to even care as you run out onto your porch barefoot, clutching your binoculars. it's getting dark fast, so you scan the open field quickly, hoping it stays light long enough for you to catch a glimpse of the coyote imposter. after several sweeps back and forth, with no signs of any coyotes, you almost admit defeat when you see it! running through the grassy field alongside the yapping coyotes is another shape, almost distinctly feline. a mimic-cat! right here in your own backyard! you watch them frolic as the sun sets all the way, and once it is too dark to see through the binoculars, you head back inside and begin shopping online for some trail cameras to set out in the field. now that you know a coyote mimic-cat is out there, you just have to try to get some pictures!

loosely based on a coyote, and also my irl cat stanley lol. he's got a very cool red undercoat, with grayish brownish fur over top. it's super unique and super hard to draw :'D

As for me, I now only have one pet. She is a very fat and sassy tortie. However, she does have her sweet moments. She may act super mean and sassy but she loves her tiny human. Always checking in on him and doesn't mind when he pulls her fur, even when we try to stop him, lol.

I actually have five cats right now! Milchester, Marble, Mansfield, Magnus, and Maize.

Milchester is a super chill grey tabby, and the oldest of the bunch. He likes flopping on the floor right in front of people when they're trying to walk.

Marble is the only girl out of the five. She's a tortoiseshell, and she refuses to eat the cat food we give her, surviving solely on mice and other small animals she catches. (Which we have a plethora of)

We also have a super fluffy orange cat, Mansfield. Instead of being the stereotypical orange cat, he's scared out of his wits by the world and everything in it. I was the one who found him in the dumpster, so he runs to me whenever he gets scared.

Then we have Magnus. He's our grumpy tuxedo cat. One of his favorite things to do is play fight with Marble while she's hunting mice.

And last but not least we have our spindly black cat, Maize. He enjoys climbing the shower curtains and just hanging halfway up like a spider.
