Oh, what a poor, lonely shadow is he who cannot dance for he is without a light in his life to provide the stage. When she is gone, he is not whole. Without her sun, all that remains — a mere shadow of a shadow. Oh, but when she returns! So does the light into his eyes, the thunder into his heart. Despite being the larger, and older (if only just) of the twins, Fēng has always felt so delicate in the presence of his sister. It seemed that the moment she stepped into the world the white mare knew that she could overcome it all, and thus acted accordingly. Fēng was born with a much more pragmatic and grounded mindset, and thus both feared and envied his sister's unwavering and occasionally unwarranted confidence.

Yin is the dark to Yang's light. They say there cannot be light without darkness for the light to stick out from.

Yin is the more reserved twin, preferring to fade into the darkness of Winter than shine through the bright of Summer. He, however, does feel very close with his twin. Despite their numerous differences, Yin and Yang have both found a happy balance of trust and care for eachother. Yang is content to frolic and play through the day, sharing joy and excitement wherever she goes. Yin is there once night falls to nudge the grasses back to their original height and smooth the dirt where hooves have churned it.

In all relationships, one can't be putting all the work in. Once winter comes and the grasses deaden and the animals go to hibernation, Yin is able to wander the fields covered in snow and appreciate the peace and tranquility of the forests. He can do so in his self-created peace, knowing that once Spring comes, his twin will be ready to urge the lands back into the hustle and bustle that Summer always brings.
