WHOO absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! Shall post yours in a bit as well <3

Lore claim below!

Sulohita knows fire, intimately. Knows the path each lick of flame will take as it dances towards the stars, knows the embers that glow in anticipation of his breath to fan them to a blaze, knows the color the ash next morning will be, depending on the offering of wood he makes.

From the time he was a colt, he has been the one sent to collect firewood for the commune from the sparse forest around, never complaining about the day-long, back-breaking task like the others. He always chose the best and biggest logs for the flames, no matter how hard to obtain, no matter what trees he had to fell in secret to source the species that burnt the longest, feeding the ever-hungry fire that worked so hard to keep them all warm.

So what if the trees were increasingly rare and sacred? Their wood looked so much prettier burnt- the teal and brown crumpling into beautiful black soot and delicate ash as the bark cracked and shrunk under the force of the fire’s fury, only fit for its consumption. And besides, no fable would ever catch him- all the panic about the disappearing trees was focused on poachers and enemies and markets- no one would think to look at the bonfire.

But every evening nowadays, after Sulohita has lit the bonfire and let the blacksmiths and dessertiers and storytellers make their use of it, when he lies by the fire's side and keeps it burning through the cold night, staring into the saffrons and ochres and maroons- he can't help but feel guilty. Every snap and crackle seems like a cry of starvation, every shrinking flame seems to accuse him of failing to provide enough. The forest is almost gone now, and with it, so are most of the Sulohita’s offerings.

He needs more. The fire demands it.

It is a happy day when Sulohita finally gives in and tests out different objects borrowed from the herd to burn in place of wood- amongst them one of the new filly’s protection amulets. It is then that he discovers that pyres born of magick never go out. It is then he discovers how many colors a fire can truly burn in.

It is then that his never-ending search for magick begins, to feed his Eternal Flame- as free as any wildfire now, burning merrily around his hooves like a cherished pet. His coat has darkened to soot, face taking the color of ash from the long nights spent tending to the hearth, sparks flying with every flap of his wings, eyes as bright as the strongest of infernos.

But fire is never satisfied, and neither is Sulohita, flame-borne that he is now. He must have more magick to burn, to offer. He must.

The fire demands it.
