The first new Sauron (The last were revamps)
Mara was an antagonist for Relic upon his return to the jungles. As the leader of the clan most associated with night - the deepest in the jungle, she w as manipulated by the village elders into admonishing and banishing the outsider. Forced her entire life to cater to tradition that she didn't care for or entirely believe in. This led to her becoming anxious, withdrawn, and even more easily pushed around by older sauron in her group that forced her into a tyrant- She was blamed for horrid things while hiding from the very sauron clan she was meant to protect. She rarely did a thing wrong herself- but she was a perfect scapegoat.
Naturally, when her passive nature caught up with her, it resulted in her death. Or so- she suspected anyway. But Relic found her, grievously wounded by her own family and friends, and using his arcane magic- was able to repair her body...in a way distinctly different than it had been before. Stained glass of arcane magic covered her wounds and replaced her missing arm- leading to a distinctly nonnatural look.
At first she was appalled by the state she found herself upon awakening. Forever marked with the symbol of humanity that disgusted her people for so long...but it didn't take long for her to change her tune. Her people had betrayed her- and all that they stood for. They chose tradition over her very life, and left her for dead. She finally had a chance to live unhindered by their control.
...And that terrified her. She stays in hiding outside of the jungle, ashamed to face her clan again. While she was originally disdainful and untrusting of Relic, they eventually forge a friendship that turns into a love interest. She still refuses to show herself among other sauron for fear of being recongized as the monster she sees herself and still struggles with
