What are Ahemait?

Ahemait are a species that have both mammal and reptile traits. They consume evil spirits, nightmares, curses, and other unsavory energies. Mostly - some of them enjoy human food as treats. This unusual source of sustenance makes them frequent and popular in populated areas, but some Ahemait choose to wander the world searching for such sources instead.

They are not entirely of this world, but where they actually came from is a bit of a mystery. Due to their supernatural nature, Ahemait come in colors and patterns not found in most terrestrial creatures (though most don't tend to be neon). Several subspecies exist, some having unique traits and even exhibiting eyeblinding colors.

Many Ahemait, being intelligent creatures, choose to act as guardians for people, places, or items, though some prefer to cause mischief instead. Even so, truly evil or malicious Ahemait are inherently a rarity due to their nature.

General rules

Ownership

» You can own an unlimited number of Ahemait
» As of right now, Ahemait cannot be traded, gifted, or sold for any currency

Artist rules

» No requirement for number of adopts made
» Adopt contests are up to you (if it's an impress me, raffle, fcfs, etc)
» Please do not sell Ahemait for real-world currency

» Will likely change once trading is sorted
» List the subspecies, traits, and rarities in your post
» Follow trait rarities for the subspecies you use for a design

» I don't intend to heavily moderate usage of rarer traits,
just try and make sure you don't give rare/vr traits to every adopt
» Only pharaoh, fossil, and permafrost Ahemait may be entirely neon colors.

» Neon accents and more muted colors are fine; standard/hardy Ahemait cannot be 'blue screen of death' blue, but they can be 'robins egg' blue.
» As of right now, fossil and permafrost Ahemait cannot be made as regular adopts.
