You're unsure why your paws have left you paused, lingering in front of an unfamiliar entryway after deviating from your usual route or patrol. Above you hangs a carefully crafted wooden sign, painted in soft pastels, with a delicate script reading The Catfé catching your eye as it creaks gently in the breeze. The brisk morning air runs its claws through your fur as if in a desperate attempt to anchor itself to you, but in doing so also carries a sweet, earthy aroma wafting forth from the unknown. Drawing closer, other scents seemingly mingled in the air— something floral, like jasmine or honeysuckle, was the most distinctive.
Perhaps curiosity gets the better of you as you find yourself pushing forward. Your ears prick at the gentle chime of a bell and the comforting crackle of a fire. The interior is painted or stained with primarily soft greens and pinks, complimented by worn wooden furnishings and at the center a counter rubbed smooth by years of soft polishing, and bathed in a golden glow from the strings of glowing baubles looped between wooden rafters and vines.
"Well now, ain't that unexpected." Carries a drawl from behind the counter. Your eyes suddenly settle on the figure of a pale-furred cat, white and cream marbling their blue-gray pelt. They wore what appeared to be a woven hat adorned with stalks of lavender, and underneath two fiery orange eyes had clearly settled on your arrival. Despite their intensity, however, you felt only warmth as a small smile spread across her muzzle. "What're y'waitin' for? Come inside— warm yer fur, been a long winter, after all."
You hesitate for only a moment before padding in the rest of the way. The warmth provided by the burning hearth was quick to chase away any lingering chill from the bitter air outside. The cat behind the counter had already moved to acquire a small ivory cup which was quickly filled with something dark and rich. So much nearer now, you can see signs of weathering and age in the features of the cat before you; more easily obscured at a distance by the long fur which feathered off of her form. However, you could also see the sharpness of her eyes, and how within them was a kindness and warmth that could even be considered motherly as she prepares a hot drink for you.
"Names Mossmaw," The cat hummed, sliding the cup they'd prepared across the counter to where you stood. With tendrils of warm steam curling up from the drink, she offered a wink before continuing her slow drawl. "Personally, I'm more've a tea minded cat m'self, but it's good t'try new things. This one's on the house. Enjoy the Catfé.'"
