prompt: eleska had heard rumors from the other frostholm natives of a yeti, but brushed them off as nothing more than just that, rumors. marus often got bored in the seclusion of the mountains, leading to stories being spread in hopes of igniting some sense of kinship. she'd never seen a yeti, and couldn't even begin to imagine what one would look like. would it be a malevolent, grotesque beast? would it be a ravenous, shaggy beast?

she never could have imagined the yeti she'd find, though.

eleska was a frostbeacon for the quaint village of frostholm, tasked with tending to the beacon atop the ice tower, used for navigation through the wintry spires she called home, maintaining its light, ensuring other marumis found their ways home safely. it was a secluded job, often times only herself, and she enjoyed it that way.

although the crystal peaks did howl at her throughout the night, she'd grown accustom to it, she'd almost found it comforting. it was as though the mountains were singing to her, a soft lullaby, ancient and ethereal in tune and nature. most nights, the swirling symphony around her would guide her to sleep.

that night, however, the wind roared. it sounded ferocious and relentless, rattling through the slopes, almost as if it sensed a disturbance.

then she heard the sound of glistening ice, followed by a soft cry. soft whispering steps, the snow absorbing each step, each step slowly getting louder as it approached. the sound of ice became deafening, as if she was amongst the stars themselves, twinkling loudly.

then she saw her. the yeti. her snowkissed fur, her crystalline eyes, her pristine form. she was no monstrous beast. she was the prettiest creature eleska had ever laid eyes on. she was immediately enamored by her. (299/300 words)

prompt: bianca was patrolling her glacial territory as she often does, expecting things to be as boring and barren as always. however, on this interesting day she saw a "small" maru (small in comparison to bianca, anyway), lying motionless in the snow. thinking quick, she summoned a lesser spirit of lightning to her location alongside a convenient electric blanket, wrapping the figure in the growing warmth in hopes of "luring" them away from their perceivable demise. the chilly maru stirred, and bianca cooed excitedly, announcing herself to the maru and asking them how they ended up in such a predicament. unbeknownst to the ice dragon, the marumi she was speaking to herself was made of ice and and snow, and was only wishing to return to her scheduled hibernation, a harmless activity of turning one's self into ice for extended periods of time. bianca, embarrassingly recalling this to be a tradition of the yeti species, apologised profusely for her sudden intrusion, visibly growing flustered by the giggles of the ice-laden marumi

Wisp and her trusty firefly companion, Anala, were out in the cold tundra searching for some shiny winter treasure when Anala alerted Wisp to a strange noise coming from behind a snow hill. "Hey! Listen!" Anala spoke. Wisp waited a moment, listening to the odd noise.. "a soft growl?" She whispered. Wisp cautiously tip-toed.. well, tip-paw-ed, towards the noise to see a yeti curled up in a ball trying to stay warm. Wisp approached the yeti, continuing to keep her distance before softly speaking to them. "Are you okay? Are you cold?" she said as the fire from her body melted the snow around the three. The yeti looks up to Wisp and Anala before swiftly running away. Wisp and Anala chase after the yeti, following them into a cave. Wisp observed the yeti as it shivered, hiding behind a large rock. Wisp slowly approached the yeti again, speaking in a comforting tone "It's okay, I'm not gonna hurt you! I just thought I could help keep you warm" Wisp walked closer to the yeti before offering her paw to them. The yeti felt the warm aura from Wisp's paw before slowly coming out from behind the rock to bathe in the warm feeling. While their fur was built for the tundra, it still got a little too cold sometimes, even for a yeti!

In the middle of the mountains, there lives a beast. A cruel one, with sharp teeths. Beware her feets; as you can't hear them squeaks. Be careful of your way, or you'll be something to eats!

Serenity attempted to lure the yeti with a child's favorite - maple taffy ("C'est de la tire sur la neige!" as her mother would always remind her). She brought boiling maple syrup (her mother helped, of course) in a thermos and poured it directly on the snow of the "yeti's domain." After it solidified partially, she tried to attach it neatly onto a stick. Of course, as she had traveled at least thirty minutes to arrive at the yeti's domain, it had lowered in temperature drastically. It definitely didn't do much. Instead, it was a delicious puddle of caramel-colored syrup going to waste in the stupid snow!

From the corner of the clearing, a shadow moved. A beast larger than anything I've ever seen moves in the shaded darkness of the far-off trees. The tall, slender maru made her way gently and quietly around the clearing, eventually making her way to just behind Serenity, obscured by the foliage - or lack thereof. All of the sudden, the tiny maru sneezed, blowing snowflakes in the general area. Sigrid giggled, quickly covering her mouth as if to take the sound back. Sigrid moved closer to her, even though she was shrinking away from the older maru.

"Please don't e-eat me!! Y-You're the-the beast! The - The ... Y-"

"Yeti? Why of course, who else would live all the way out here?"

Serenity was baffled, rubbing her eyes; but her eyes had not lied. She was told the beast would be scary...frightening...bewildering, even. Yet, this maru seemed nothing of the sort.

"My dear...You look terrible! How long have you been out?" Sigrid gently placed the back of her hand on Serenity's forehead, feeling for her temperature. Serenity jolted away, still processing the moment.

"HEY! Stop it! I don't accept help from strangers, let alone yetis!"

"Well, this yeti happens to have a bungalow about thirty paces that-a-way...with warm tea brewing...I guess she'll just take her leave, the-"

"WAIT!"

Sigrid stopped in her tracks, smiling where Serenity could not see it.
