PROMPT
This kit is part of a prophecy. What is that prophecy? Are they aware of the prophecy? If so, what do they do to change their fate? Do they accept this prophecy as unchangeable? If they are unaware, does destiny take them down this pre-determined road or do they have the ability to unknowingly change their fate?

“I wish I could’ve lived my life without making any wrong turns. But that’s impossible. A path like that doesn’t exist. We fail. We trip. We get lost. We make mistakes. And little by little, one step at a time, we push forward. It’s all we can do. On our own two feet.” - Yuki Sohma

“These waters are no longer fit for habitation. We needed to make this decision sooner than expected. I’m sorry, my son.”
The words of his high elder, his father, echoed in Regia’s ears and weighed heavy in his stomach as he perched on the chair. Spread out before him were the relics of Impera, items said to have been blessed by the god themself, and integral to the ceremony. The atmosphere was tense and somber, his bedchambers quiet. The royal aides moved wordlessly through the room, each one gathering an important piece to the ceremony that he was to be the centerpiece of. Each pull of the ceremonial brush through his hair was like another tolling of the bell. He had hoped there would have been more time, that luck would be on his and his peoples’ side, but alas it had not been. Then again, when had luck ever been on their side?
As his aides prepared him for the ceremony, his mind drifted off to the history he had been taught. It all began in a time when gods waged war against each other and mortals were caught in the crossfire. Many gods chose to forsake mortals, indifferent and often cold and uncaring if the mortals got in their way. Not all acted as such. Impera, the god of permanence and stability, took pity upon his people and gave them the sanctum under the ocean that they lived in, the one that was now decaying due to the murder of the god they so loved after their eternal slumber had been cut short over two centuries ago.
Regia was pulled from his thoughts as the ceremonial brush was set aside. His hair was twisted and pinned into place with a hairpin said to have been blessed by Impera themself. He looked in the mirror but didn’t his gaze didn’t meet his reflection’s eyes. He looked beautiful, but it didn’t look like him. Regia didn’t feel as though he was ready for this, ready to become a god. One would think fulfilling a centuries-old prophecy and replacing the slain god would be a good thing, but not when said god was known for an unending slumber not unlike death. Seventeen years before he picked up the mantle of unending slumber wasn’t enough.
As he was draped in the ceremonial robes made for a prophecy dictates to fall on his shoulders years and years before his birth, his favorite aide caught his gaze, held it, then let it fall as they drifted away from the god-to-be to resume their duties. When they returned with the ceremonial circlet, it all settled onto Regia. There was no escaping his duty, and there was no turning back. All the gears had been set into motion and there was nothing he could do about it, not that there had ever been anything for him to truly do to avoid this. Regia was his father’s son, and the one to bring his peoples’ centuries-long suffering to an end. A deep breath was taken, any reservations buried deep into the depths of his soul, and he lowered his head for the circlet to be placed upon it.
The circlet was placed upon his head and despite everything he had done to stop the feeling, it felt like a ball and chain. Rising with help from his aides, Regia was led from his chambers to the place where he would ascend into godhood. Musicians surrounded the square pavilion and began playing the ode to their slain god. Regia’s eyes shut tight. The vehement denial bubbled to the surface once more, but he said nothing. His father speaking behind him became background noise as he thought about his life up to this point. Regia’s thoughts and his father’s speaking were interrupted by a loud commotion, and words that ignited hope in his chest rang out in the nearly silent pavilion. His eyes shot open and fell onto a sight he hadn’t expected.
“Stop this madness, he’s only a child! He has his whole future ahead of him! We deserve a chance to decide our own future!”
In that moment everything felt still for a few heartbeats. Then as if something or someone on high had heard the whisperings in his soul, one by one a fervor took hold of the gathering of people. Their voices rose to a fever pitch as they clamored onto the stone stage and unintentionally separated him from his father. It offered Regia a chance to escape, an opening the royal prince gladly took. His feet hit the stones, he shot off like a bullet, and he never looked back.
His fate, his destiny… They were his to control now.

personality wrote:xxxxon the outside regia is a very kind, polite, yet calm and reserved young man.
his manners are impeccable and he treats everyone he comes across as kindly
and politely as he can, even if they are rude or mean to him first. this isn't without
difficulties, however. having grown up somewhat alone in the palace back home,
regia tends to have a hard time communicating with others in a more casual setting.
more often than not the young man tends to talk himself in circles when speaking to
people outside of a formal perspective.
xxxxdespite this hang-up on talking to people, this doesn't stop him from being as helpful
as he can be to those that need it. children tend to refer to him as a big brother and
it's not uncommon for regia to have throngs of small children following him around the
city or town during the day. he doesn't mind their pestering, however, and if anything
he enjoys the company the children provide, even if he has a hard time talking to them
when they talk to him.
xxxxunderneath the exterior, however, regia struggles with anxiety. while making the split second
decision to leave everything he ever knew behind was extremely freeing and ultimately for
the best for him, the new world that regia has found himself in is one that scares and
overwhelms him. over the years that he has been "up top" as he calls it, he has learned to
suppress his negative emotions until he's alone. once he's alone, that's when regia lets it all out.
his guilt of leaving his friends, his family, and everything and everyone he has ever known behind
and in such a precarious position is like a devil on his shoulder. it tends to eat away at him if regia
doesn't keep himself busy or have something to keep his mind occupied.
relationships wrote:caelorum (father) * -- regia and caelorum's relationship, as all father-son relationships start, was
a positive one. as a small child regia had many fond and happy memories that he had made with
his father. as the condition of their sanctum worsened and he grew older, regia's relationship with
his father grew more and more sour and strained. when the day came that the prince needed to
take his part in the ceremony the two barely talked outside of when they were required to. on
the day of the ceremony, when the prince ran away from his people, regia knew that his
relationship with his father was broken beyond repair. there is no salvaging the wounded
relationship between the two.
aecoris (mother) * -- his relationship with his mother was much better than the relationship
with his father. while he and his father drifted apart, regia found solace in his mother. while
she couldn't save him from his fate regia could go to her and cry on her about anything and
everything that troubled him. there was always an underlying bitterness that she could
do nothing for her beloved son, she always did her best to care for her son and make
sure that he knew that she loved him greatly. deep down, on the day that regia made
the decision to refuse the role he had to play aecoris was happy that her son had made
the decision he wanted to.
palus (younger sister) * -- regia and his sister were born two years apart, but were thick
as thieves when they were growing up. when regia's relationship with his father began to
crumble he began to spend what time he could with his sister. whenever he wasn't being
prepared for the role he was to play in his people's plight, the two could be found playing
in the palace gardens. together the two would catch bugs, pluck flowers, and play games
typical of children like hide and seek, tag, and the sort. as she grew older and more privvy
to the role that her brother had to play she did all she could to make the fleeting moments
the two shared easier on her beloved brother. on the fateful day that regia fled, palus was
fifteen, and amongst the clamoring diin of the crowd she cheered for him to make the decision
he was happy with. as long as regia was happy, she would be happy.
* -- indicates that a kalon is not real, but a name is provided to flesh out the character.

i'll be seeing you
"...and when the night is new,
i'll be looking at the moon
and i'll be seeing you."
regia after escaping his home and leaving his people behind, often looks to the moon, the giver of their tides, and thinks about his people. did they leave after he did, seeing that the one to ascend to the seat of godhood is gone for good? or did they remain in that decaying, deteriorating sanctum because it was all they had ever known?
outrunning karma
"he's never gonna make it, all the
poor people he's forsaken, karma
is always gonna chase him for his lies"
the guilt of leaving will always haunt him, and regia feels as though this guilt and the karma of leaving will always hunt him down and strike when he least expects it.
truncated verse
[no lyrics]
this instrumental piece really drives home how regia was feeling after he left home, leaving everything and everyone he ever knew behind for his own desire to be free. if it was a good choice or a bad one he's not sure of yet. only time will tell.
rises the moon
"days pull you down just like a sinking ship
floating is getting harder
but tread the water, child, and know that meanwhile
rises the moon."
each day is harder and harder on regia, but he knows he has to keep moving forward. he was granted this opportunity to live for himself and not others, and he has to take this chance. just as the moon will rise and fall, he will continue onwards and live a life for himself. life on his own is growing easier, though.
whisper of domus aurea
[no lyrics]
after such a long time of dealing with his guilt and shame, regia comes to terms with what he did and finally lets himself breathe. he casts away the guilt, the shame, the sadness, and allows himself to simply be. no longer is he burdened by the "woulds haves, could haves, should haves", and it's now that regia allows himself to live without the burdens that had weighed him down.
