You make it a few steps into the room, but before you can pick a seat you're stopped by an excited pink Chicoon.

Hello! Welcome to marine biology. My name is Tumble and I'm the teachers assist. I basically help miss grumpy pants Selkie over there with her class. While you're in this class you'll be learning all about the ocean and the wonderful creatures that live in it. We even have a few field trips planned. This is going to be so great! I know you're just going to love it here.

50% of sharks are actually smaller than 3 feet and over 80% are smaller than 5!

Shark teeth can be a wide variety of colors such as white, tan, brown, or even black! This color is affected by what kind of sediment the tooth is preserved in.

Most aquarium fish flakes are made of a mixture of fish, squid, and shrimp meal along with earthworms and spirulina. Yummy?

Diaphonization uses a chemical called trypsin to turn an animal transparent and then uses a variety of dyes to stain the bones.

Many aquariums use a bubbler to ensure there's enough dissolved oxygen in the water. Otherwise the fish may suffocate!

Specimens preserved for dissection are kept in a mixture of 2% propylene glycol and 98% water solution with less than 0.6% formalin. This is what gives them their distinct smell that you're so used to.
