The story took place in a mountain town just on the edge of the state border. Out in the middle of nowhere, where the snow caps the mountains and at night you can see every star in the sky. A place where one doesn’t want to end up lost. Where coyotes howl in the distance and sometimes the the eyes that reflect back from the tree lines are just a little too far apart to be any kind of known animal. The shrill whistle in the distance howls through the silence, and if you squint you can see the steam of the train as it barrels through the mountains. Carter is our protagonist as he searches the small mountain town for answers about the supposed “ghost train” but the locals won’t speak on it. In fact, they seem to ignore any questions he may have about it, or they change topics to the weather. But Carter needs to know more. Needs to know why he hears the whistle in the dead of night, even though the tracks have been out of commission for years. Will he finds the answers he seeks? Or will he end up standing on the platform when the conductor calls for the last passengers to board?

He's writing a children's book that doubles as his own autobiography! From the time he was very small, Oscar has been attending speech therapy to help him communicate. Having two tongues left him with a speech impediment, and he often felt shut out of the world around him. But he's made leaps and bounds in therapy and he wants to share that information with the world.
The book tells a story about a dragon who forgets how to speak. Scared and alone, the dragon finds friends who help him relearn how to communicate and open up to the world again. Oscar relates his own experiences and the things he learned in his speech therapy to the story of the dragon. Once the book is published, Oscar hopes that it can become a useful resource for speech therapists and children alike.

Prompt: One day an ordinary kalon, with a very mundane life, falls into a strange parallel world. Where once they had been surrounded by princesses, princesses, kings and adventurers, he found himself now surrounded by strange professions like 'cashier' and 'driver.' What even was a car, where were the horses? Stranger still was that the creatures he encountered here were sentient like kalons, but only had hair on their heads, and small rounded ears.

Worse still, he must hide his own features so as to blend in better and try to navigate this world. What once were fires and candles he found were flashing lights and screens. He has to find a wizard and get help making his way back to his own place, but does this world even have wizards? In his adventures, he makes some unlikely friends, and soon gets a small following of friends that try to help him out: Michelle Fairweather, who insists she is a 'doctor' and not a cleric, Sebastian Smith, a 'foodie' not a chef, as well as the simply named Pixie who claims to be a 'star' and not a bard.

Is home forever lost? Or will he find a new home in this new land and the friends he has encountered?
