It truly wounded their pride, only made worse by the reason they were there in the first place. With their age and training, it rankled to be forced into resting because they broke a wing by flying directly into a tree branch like a juvenile.

Having to spend weeks, forced into resting, because of a mistake they hadn't come close to making in years caused them to stew in a cocktail of negative emotions.

It would be over soon enough, though. And when it was, they resolved to never tell another of the incident.
