Before the god of color, Chicoons were always shades of grey and black and covered in stripes. They had dull pelts and bland markings, the only color found on any chicoon was the flame- burning bright as a contrast to the boring greys.
The Goddess of the moon explained to all the dreary mortal chicoon, colorful fur would obscure the beautiful fire. The Goddess of the moon described a wonderfully cunning bird, known for its tricks and its wonderful mimicry, a bird that- although tasteless in design- had its talent and beauty recognized because it wasn't overwhelmed by bright colors. The goddess of the moon explained "Crows don't need color to be beautiful, your flame is enough to show your beauty"
