They're quite powerful and loyal companions. While some may choose to live in colonies out in the wild, others may choose the companionship of humans. Many Storkies also possess magical abilities, though require the usage of runes to unlock them.

“She’s done it again, dear.”
“What? Oh, I see.”
Della’s ears twitched in her sleep, where she was curled up in the nest with a squirrel and a rabbit.
“Della, wake up, dear,” Her mother meowed.
Della’s eyes cracked open. “Yes, mama?” She did a little stretch, unbothered by the other creatures in her bed.
“Why do you have forest creatures in your room?”
“They’re my friends,” Della declared.
“Are you sure you didn’t accidentally summon them in your sleep again?” Her father asked gently, his whiskers twitching in amusement.
“Um… maybe?”
“We found you a teacher to help. He’ll be here later today to meet you!” exclaimed her mother.
Della’s ears lowered slightly. “But will I still be able to keep my friends around?”
“Well… if that’s what you want,” Her father meowed. “Tovio will just help you communicate with them better.”
Della brightened again at that. “Okay!!” Maybe that meant she could have even more friends!

Teo's tone made Elewynne more annoyed, and the rosetted storkie let out a groan. "You're not even fire magic. Why are you telling me this?"
"It's important to be honing your craft!"
"We are in a library."
"I-I-- hey!" Teo sputtered. "You don't need to practice IN HERE, you know! Just... Just in general!"
Elewynne rolled their eyes. "Whatever, whatever. If the old man says it's important, then I will."
"Better not let him hear you say that."
"Whateverrrrr."
Needless to say, Elewynne didn't exactly take their magic training very seriously... nor did they plan to, really.

A passionate botanist, with a specific fondness for sage brush, and an interest in the ecology of scrublands as a whole. As they have been unable to locate another who studies the same ecosystems, not without traveling much greater distances than they have, they scavenge what books and scrolls they can locate. They may be old, in some cases fragmented or written in an ancient script that requires translation, but these near ancient sources are the best they've located thus far.

An aspiring meteorologist, he constantly records temperature, precipitation, and a significant amount of everything else he believes may be related to the systems that change the weather. This is much to the annoyance of those around him, as he will often pause conversations to make note of changing conditions. Without a true mentor, he works alongside a linguist who has largely deciphered one form of ancient script in pursuit of reconstructing ages old instruments to perfect his work.

Despite their birth element being Fire, this Storkat's interest lies within zoology, generally within the mustelid family, but with a more granular interest in ferrets, stoats, and weasels. Irritated that those they have studied under require a level of mastery of their Fire magic before they're allowed to truly study Faunal magic in-depth, they begrudgingly take what instruction they can get. Once they can switch their focus entirely to Faunal, they believe their research within their chosen topic will progress by leaps and bounds.

Stella learns best when she's able to actually practice what she's learning as she learns it. If she can't, she prefers to be able to watch someone else because seeing how something is supposed to work helps her when it's time for her to try it. While Stella can read books to supplement her understanding of something, she can't really learn solely from books because she can't always visualize it just based on the words. Thus, Stella has a teacher who demonstrates the magic she's learning, then lets her try after asking questions to make sure Stella knows what she's supposed to do.
...Of course, this doesn't stop Stella from sometimes trying to teach herself something she has seen someone else do, by practicing by herself until she gets it right. Though her teacher has repeatedly told her not to try anything that could potentially be too difficult or dangerous for her to try on her own, Stella can occasionally get too curious for her own good. Still, she tries her best not to do anything that seems dangerous without supervision. She can, however, sometimes overestimate her abilities when she sees something cool that she really wants to learn how to do.
Regardless, Stella is a very attentive learner, and always pays attention when her teacher is teaching her. She typically picks things up quickly as long as she is taught in a way that matches her learning style.

Venus

Nestled into the mountainside lay an old ruin, which has been repurposed into where apprentices learn to control their magic. Scorched black marks lay strewn about where old magic was used.

'You need to breath and calm your mind' stated Venus calmness waived in her voice.
'Yeah yeah I know' Rena chirped back eager to start the lesson. Venus let a sigh of worry as she started to guide Rena through the basics of learning to control ones magic. A sudden gust of wind whipped through the duo's fur as Venus turned to anger plastered on her face. 'RENA, that is not what I told you to do'. A cheeky grin was planted on Rena's face as she jokingly snorted 'Whoops my bad'. Venus rubbed a paw over her face, hoping that Rena would listen to instructions given to her. 'From the beginning now' sighed Venus, as Rena took her stance once again. For most of the day it was a consistent rinse and repeat as Venus constantly had to instruct Rena to start again. Soon after the countless mistakes Venus huffed and tiredly spoke 'Thats enough for today go home and rest'. 'But I wanna continue' protested Rena. Venus waved a paw to dismiss Rena tired of today's task. 'We will do more tommorow' Venus instructed, laying down trying to recuperate from today's lesson. Rena gave a sigh of disapproval but left to get rest ready for tommorows training, hoping to please her mentor one day.

While 814 values their studies and practice of their magic, they aren't too serious about it in a way only a faunal storkatten would be able to get away with. They are a massive chatterbox, and enjoy practicing their magic by holding lengthy gossip sessions with the local birds and forest critters.

This storkat is extremely anxious about their studies, wanting to stay on top of them at all times. They greatly value the assistance of their mentors and can often be found checking and rechecking the best practice methods and reading material to consult. Visiting the garden, you'll find them rereading pages of paper and following the written instructions to a T to grow giant, sprouting flora, scrutinizing every perceived imperfection.

816 tries to study, they really do, but when there's so many exciting things to experience they can't help blowing (ha) off their teacher and leaving to go seek out something new to explore. However, they end up practicing using their air magic in the process, such as using it to traverse terrain and climb trees, so their time isn't entirely wasted. But if only they could learn to take their studies a little more seriously...

This storkie has a strong sense of independence, and is determined to master their magic all on their own. They stubbornly refuse any help offered to them, insisting they can do it on their own and will spend hours determinedly practicing and perfecting their abilities. Occasionally, a stray column of fire and flashes of spurts of flame will appear in the sky, but it's become so common that the other members of their colony rarely notice.

Ellie likes to take the time to really understand what faunal magic is. There's only so much you can learn from classes, though getting to meet her 'familiar' Bell was definitely a bonus. After her main lessons in the mornings, she takes a trip down into the deep forest, where more feral animals reside. While her lessons teach her how to care for animals and gain their trust, she taught herself how to understand them. How they truly feel, and learnt how they communicate. Animals aren't just companions to her; many of them she views as equals, in some regard. A bear or a mouse deserve as much respect and deserve to be heard as much as her fellow storkatten. That's something they haven't taught her in school.

Zack isn't what you'd expect from a fire storkie. His cool and sometimes off-putting demeanor and reluctance to use is magic in a flamboyant way has caused a few storkies to believe he's a water or ice storkie instead. At the surface level, he seems like a storkie not content with the magic he was given, yet that isn't slightly true.

Zack loves his magic, but in the more subtle ways. He's a self taught cook, which his magic has helped alot with. He's made notebooks filled with recipes, and the ways that adjusting your flame ever so slightly can change the way a dish comes out. With the aide of a friend, he's learnt how to give off warmth without the flames. Doing that is how he got his little friend, who took a nap on his warmed tail and hasn't left his side since.
