Short Story:

Elders tell a story of a creature - some call it a god, or demigod, some name it a trickster spirit - that lived in the great valley. It could disguise itself in many ways to act among the mortals, deeming them somewhat entertaining, but he favored playing with the immortal powers that acted upon the land; teasing the wind until it created tornadoes, cajoling with the rivers until they flooded their banks, annoying the earth itself until it rattled and shook with anger. For centuries, he created havoc for the forces of nature herself, until the clouds tired of his games and struck at him with great bolts of lighting. It was a near miss; rock split and pebbles flew to knock against his feet, but he became vengeful.

The spirit yelled at the clouds, demanding a bet: the loudest would win the power over lightning. The clouds agreed, and let loose a massive roll of thunder that could be heard for miles. The spirit grinned, undeterred. He followed with a loud scream and stamped at the earth until it, woken from its sleep, shuddered angrily. The spirit, standing among the rubble, proudly declared himself the winner, for he had made the very ground stir.

With the newly purloined power, the spirit turned again to mortals, finding it greatly amusing to create small jolts at random times, or making hair stand on-end by simply charging the environment. He made peace (mostly) with the forces of nature -- all except the clouds, which he still boasts of his victory and shows off his winnings.

This zebra... is clearly not the trickster spirit, but he certainly seems to have the same energy; playful and mischievous, but at once vengeful and dangerous if provoked. All the same, they named the animal after him, hoping that acknowledging him honorably appeases the rogue.

Legend tells of a land far away
Where gusts and gales of wind come to play.
A distant land of storm battered shores
And skies of near constant downpours.

Where the sand is black as night
There is a young dragon acolyte.
Though he is still young and naive
He's got plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

Here young Tempest tests his skills
By blasting wind through the whippoorwills!
At target practice he is alright,
The bull's-eye is not so easy to ignite.

At the water's edge he's known to play
When he does all the creatures cry, make way!
Tempest gallops along with reckless abandon,
Water is the element he has command in.

A young blue dragon is his best friend
Though he is small he's dangerous to offend!
With teeth and claws as sharp as a blade
This dragon should never be betrayed.

Together they chase the wild waves
And explore mysterious glowing caves.
Forever to this land they are bound
And across the globe their tale is renowned!

Eragon was a thing of legends. A mysterious zebra who thrived atop the highest mountains. Many ventured out to scale the giant and treacherous mountains to even catch a glimpse of this zebra. But the truth is he is actually a dragon who's soul has been trapped in this creature for centuries. At night he is known the stand atop the ledge that peaks out from his cave and gaze at starry skies wishing he could fly again, so he can soar amongst the stars once again and feel the breeze whistle around him. Not alone he has befriend a small dragon who goes by the name Sapphire. Together the duo explore the mountains, seeing the wonderful views it has to offer or play in the snow and make snowman to the best of their abilities. His cave is filled with odd markings which have come from him trying to strengthen his abilities ready for when he becomes a dragon again.
