whenever soverign was brought into the equids of royalty stables, he never expected to meet a mare with the personality that siege has. one minute she's hot, the next she's cold. it's a never-ending story and he had found out the hard way, it was always best to approach her with a guard up because he never knew when he would need to tuck and roll to avoid the flames of her fury.
the other herd members found it best to leave her alone but sovereign simply could not. it wasn't her fault that she reacted the way she did -- before being brought into the stables, siege was found in a neglected state on an abandoned farm. she was skittish at the best of times, a ticking time bomb at the worst.
if she was ever going to get better, she needed a thorn in her side and a push to her rump. moping around the stables all day would never make her confront the demons of her past.
and that's exactly what sovereign became -- a thorn in her side that never left her alone. every waking second of the day that sovereign was able to, siege found him in her face. when she was eating? he was watching. when she was running? he was right behind her.
it wasn't easy breaking through the walls that siege had formed around herself, but she would soon learn that sovereign's patience was endless. being that both of them were stubborn, it was a few months before siege finally began to give in, even if it was to throw flippant remarks about how annoying he was. these comments slid right off his back, much to her annoyance, and seemed to have quite the opposite affect of what she had desired.
sovereign was happy to be a way for siege to let her anger out, unbottling her emotions and finally letting herself go. he had found since coming to the stables that she was tense at all times, always in control. he couldn't wait for there to be a time when she trusted him with everything.
fast forward a few years, siege appreciated the thorn in her side (otherwise known as sovereign) and they formed a bond that was everlasting and as indestructible as steel.
