Lion Name: Amber
Lion Gender: Female
Link to pride: Pride Status: Guard and Gardener. Owns a small garden shop where she sells flowers and supplies.
Prompt: Amber sprinkled a particularly special pot of daisies with water. This forest was so much better than her old home. In her old home something had happened. Something horrible. She could live free from it now and live the life she wanted

Amber crept around the corner. Her mother was in the room with her father, the king. Her mother hadn't fallen in love with her father, she was chosen for him. This, Amber knew. Amber was the princess. She was not allowed to become queen, because that was outlawed, but she didn't want to. She considered herself lucky she was a girl and held very little importance in their pride's social structure. She had considered herself wrong, though she did not know this yet. Her father was talking. Her mother was listening. From a hidden place, so was Amber.
"We have to do something about it," the king said, glowering. "We can't have her polluting our blood, girl or not."
Amber stopped listening to think. Where they talking about her? Her thoughts were interrupted by a butler who pulled her away from her parent's conversation.
"Princess, what do you think you are doing!" he said, more of an exclamation than a question.
Amber didn't say anything for a moment then explained she was looking for a snack and her short cut to the dining hall had led her to her parents conversation. The butler paused for a moment then whisked away. Amber heaved a sigh and head back to her room.
...
"Amber, darling," Amber's mother said shaking her awake. "We have something wonderful to show you! You must get ready and look your prettiest."
She dropped a pile of jewelry on Amber's table and continued,
"Put that on and get to the dinning hall."
Amber got up and looked at the pile as her mother exited. The pile must have been two paws tall. She groaned and got to work. Once the jewelry was settled on Amber, she set off for the dining hall.
The hall was mostly empty (of people of course, it was adorned with art and historic artifacts that were supposed to look regal) except for her parents and three lions who looked very happy to be here. The youngest of the three strangers was sitting at one of the ends of the table with the other two beside him. Amber's parents were similarly positioned on the other end of the table. Amber sat at the head seat. It all felt strange. Shouldn't her father be sitting here? Shouldn't the table be full of important people? Why where the strangers looking her over?
"This, Amber, is Icarus. He is joining us with his parents for dinner," the king said, gesturing towards the young one at the opposite head seat.
Amber waited for something else. There was something more and she could tell it.
"Amber, meet your fiance."
Amber felt heavy. Maybe it was all the jewelry. But it wasn't. Icarus smirked at her across the table. He was horrible. Amber had never told anyone before. And most certainly her parents could not know she didn't like boys. She shoved her way out of her seat, her eyes steady upon him. And then she fled. She ran and ran and ran until she was somewhere far away. Until she was in Sunbeam Forest.
