Prompt:
Aurora use to leave with her grandmother. Every year at Christmas, they would go caroling with a few others from the town. Aurora always loved to hear her grandmother sing, and her grandmother loved to sing. Aurora's grandmother loved making people happy even more than singing, which was why she started the caroling group in the first place, to bring happiness every year on Christmas. Aurora loved to help her grandmother, and she loved to see the happy faces whenever they caroled. But that was a long time ago.
Aurora hasn't song since her grandmother passed. It brings her to much sadness. When her grandmother passed, she was sent to live with her great uncle. He was her grandmother's brother. He is a bitter old man, and always quit grumpy. But he is the last family of Aura.
One day Aurora decided to ask her great uncle about her grandmother as a child.
The old Lambicorn looked at her, pain in his eyes, and sighed.
"She was a lot like you, kind, gentle, and a little headstrong"
"Realy?" Aurora asked.
"yes really" he snapped. Them he took a deep breath and sighed.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I have just been so lost without her. She was my best friend you see. We use to do everything together" He looked down rather sadly then continued. "We use to go on adventures together. Rather it be playing in the river, which at that time was a small creek, or traveling the forest, we had such fun."
Looked at Aurora. " I remember that sometimes your grandmother would wander off by herself. One time I followed her. And she went to a big cave, and began to sing." He stopped and smiled as if he was right there again. "She had the voice of an angel your grandmother." He paused then chuckled. "When she found out i had been spying, she got so flustered and angry. She refused to talked to me for an entire week." "Finally my parents got involved and asked what happened, so I told them." He smiled some more, and Aurora sure she could see the colors return to his face. "When I told my parents about her singing, they got so excited. They immediately signed her up to a singing competition."
"Grandmother was in singing competitions?" Aurora asked, baffled.
"Yes many, and she won most of them" He smiled.
"Wow, did grandmother ever stop singing" Aurora asked.
"Iy, she did" he frowned. "She got into an accident, she was injured and lost her voice, but she also lost something else, something even more precise, her first child, who would of been your aunt." He looked so grim. "She was so devastated, that when her voice returned, she refused to sing ever again."
"But she did sing again, what made her change her mind" Aurora asked.
He looked at her for a very long time, then smiled. "It was you little one. When you were given to her, she was sad, but your cute little face cheered her up. She began singing lullabies to you, and other song, and eventually realised, that she missed singing. I believe she started her caroling group when you were two. " He smiled. Then he looked sad again. "Oh I miss her so much." He began to sob, then full brown cry.
Aurora didn't know what to do, she had so rarely seen an adult cry. Then she thought of what her grandmother would do when she was upset, and she began to sing.
When she was don singing, she hugged her great uncle, with all her might, and he hugged back. He wiped his tears and then said "Thank you."
After that, Aurora would sing once more, and every Christmas, she and her great uncle would go out caroling with the local carolers. They would always think of the grandmother, and try to bring happiness like the grandmother did.
