Ｔｈｅ ＣａｖｅｒｎｓThe Caverns is the underground home of a small and wary group of cats. The tunnels lie just below the blazing hot sands of the dry desert above, weaving through the earth in a manner thought out by only the vaguest levels of planning and all, eventually, connecting to the central cave. The central cave is a shimmering oasis, lit by dim lights from the plants and bugs that live around it, it's much lower in the ground than the surrounding tunnels and most cats spend there days around it as water is otherwise scarce. The central cave is also the coolest cave of all the tunnels, even when full of cats at sunhigh.
Most cats born in the tunnels never venture out onto the sands above, they fear the heat as most cats fear snakes or badgers, something to avoid at all costs. The sun itself is seen as a tyrant, the last act a truly evil leader took to seal the group away in permanent misery. The only cats allowed above the surface are the Swiftpaws, agile cats as light on their feet as the creams common in their coats. They hunt and patrol for the group and are almost always able to escape whatever captures them. They're not trained in fighting, though several have come up with their own techniques in recent days.
The Caverns cats claim the forest between them and the Highlands are their ancestral home, taken from them by the cat who dragged them to the desert in the first place. Though the only evidence they have is stories and legends of gods and ancients the Highlands refuse to accept. Swiftpaws are being directed to take prey from the forest and dance around the Highland Scouts if they dare try and claim back prey that rightfully belongs to the Caverns. Some Swiftpaws have taken this order a little too far and have been engaging in battles with the Scouts and not all of them have been returning in one piece, some have not returned at all.

Rumble | She/Her
An older she-cat with a calm head on her shoulders but a short
temper for anyone who threatens the safety of her cats, Rumble
is the current leader of the Caverns cats. She has large amounts
of experience and tries to be an active member of the group
rather than a leader who sits on their butt all day. Unfortunately,
that attitude has left her in some pretty tricky spots before and
she can be too stubborn to see when she needs to give in. She
has a missing eye, a torn ear, and several smaller scars across her
body.

Fleetfoot | They/Them
A young an ambitious cat who takes the Swiftpaw's reputation
for being light on their feet to the extreme. They're easily
startled and ready to run at the slightest warning, but have a
hope in their heart that everyone is nice and often forget that
the reality of it is, they often aren't. They're more than willing
to help and just want to be recognised for their work by Rumble,
but know that the old she-cat is busy with all sorts of other
things. They have a shorter tail than most cats and larger eyes,
but don't have a single scar on them, an unusual trait compared
to the rest of the Caverns' cats.
