Prompt: This Strider's Daily Life With Owner
Everyday I greet my Striders anywhere from 6 to 8 in the morning. Sunrise gets to go for a trail ride every Monday,
to visit a water stream they love, and allow them to hunt a bit while in the woods and fields. Every Wednesday and Saturday
I take Sunrise into the round pen or arena to work on some ground work. Every morning Sunrise is trotting running proudly as the sun rises. Sunrise loves to watch birds fly by and catch fallen feathers, or go for strolls looking for them. Sometimes she even tries to make a nest out of her collection of feathers.
Sorry guys I've decided to keep her!
I would like to do some art of this beautiful girl!

The Day I Got Sunrise
I had spent months preparing a brand new ranch, I had just opened a rescue center for Galingale Striders.
I had gotten a call to capture a herd of Striders. So my team and I had headed off to capture a group of Striders.
After we had headed out on the trip, and brought them back to the ranch. I had began to realize I was visiting
#01's paddock the most. I even began to note down her personality and what she is like daily. One very early morning,
before the sun had rose, I decided to let the herd loose into a large pasture. The herd was quiet and calm as they moved into the pasture. I watched the herd for an hour as the sun rose. I kept my eye on #01 most, she trotted proudly around the pasture in the sunrise. I thought to myself and decided that the name Sunrise would be a great name for this mare.

A week has gone by, the rest of Sunrise's herd has been adopted, and I've officially decided to keep Sunrise. I walked up to Sunrise's paddock and tossed a few different pieces of raw meat and fruits into her feeding trough and watched Sunrise move towards the trough quickly and check out all of the options. She ate all of the meat first before eating any of the fruit. She seemed to not care as much about the fruit but ate it anyways for a full filling. I moved close to the paddock and just sat down on a lawn chair. I watched Sunrise stroll around her paddock after eating her variety of meat and fruits. She doesn't seem that interested in people she doesn't know, so she took some time to open up to the idea of me being a friend. I sat down watching her for about ten minutes then got up to go prepare a few paddocks for a new herd we're about to gather.

I've discovered Sunrise likes meat more than anything after bringing her snacks daily. So I had continued to bring her meat every time it was time to give her a meal or snack. I headed over to the paddock, and opened the gate and moved in slowly. I held my hands up as I approached the center of Sunrise's paddock. Sunrise stayed a distance away while walking circles around the paddock not taking an eye off me for not even a second. I watched her circle me for a a few minutes, and stood my ground as she learned I'm still of no threat.

I entered the paddock this evening and had brought in a large chunk of meat. I tossed it into her food trough and watched her eat it. Once she finished I moved in towards Sunrise step by step. Sunrise didn't move away so I held out a small chunk of meat at the palm of my hand trusting my instincts that Sunrise might be ready. I closed my eyes and looked away and waited a couple minutes. A moment later I had felt Sunrise's lips tickle my hand and her fangs grind against the palm of my hand as she licked it clean. I lifted my other hand slowly towards her face and placed it on her face. Sunrise flicked her ear, but stayed calm. So I moved my hand down her face and began to stroke her a few times.

I bonded with Sunrise for a couple weeks, then planned out getting her set up for halter training. The day has come,
so I prepared halter and meat then headed for her paddock. I tossed part of the meat over into the food trough,
then entered the paddock while she ate.Sunrise walked up to me when she finished the meat in the trough,
and sniffed me out for more since she could smell it all over me. I pushed her nose away gently then moved the
halter towards her for her to sniff out. I let her check it out, then rewarded here each time she had touched it
with her nose. I repeated this step a few times before finally moving the halter around her and near her face.
I hadn't slipped the halter onto her today, since she wasn't ready for that step.

It's day three of getting Sunrise used to a halter and lead. I gathered her halter, lead and some meat as always then
hurried off to Sunrise's paddock. I entered Sunrise's paddock, and offered Sunrise a piece of meat when she greeted
me. I patted her on the neck telling her she's a good girl. I moved the halter up to her and offered her a piece of meat.
Sunrise slipped her nose through the halter so I moved the halter over her nose and over her face slowly. I went to
reach for her ear and she jumped back. I gave her a few minutes then decided to just pet her and then stroke her
ears some to get her used to the feel. I hung out with Sunrise for a bit longer just petting her and rubbing the
halter and lead around her neck and back.

I've worked on getting Sunrise used to the halter and lead for a few days before attempting to leave her paddock with her. I walked her around her paddock mostly or let her roam her paddock with the halter on. I grabbed the halter and some meat then as usual rewarded her for greeting me, and for touching the halter. I slipped the halter onto her and then walked her towards the gate of the paddock then patted her on the neck. I opened the gate and stood still with her. I then walked forward and lead her out. She began to rear up and try to escape so I had put pressure into moving her back in the direction of the entryway of her paddock until she moved into her paddock. I tossed the lead over her back and closed the gate and just let be for a bit.

I've for a few weeks been working on getting Sunrise used to a halter. I've been able to walk her around the ranch some and have her tie and stand. I had gathered her some meat snacks, then grabbed a few props and brought the stuff to an arena then went to collect Sunrise and began to walk her around the arena and introduce her to the props that I'll be using on or around her for the next few days or rest of her life! I lead her up to a tarp and stopped over it. I let her sniff it out before attempting to have her walk over it. She stood tall and walked over it but then panicked a bit when heard it crinkle but then calmed down and walked along side me. I introduced her to the other props, working on her for half an hour before putting her back in in her paddock for the day.
