My brain woke me up 4 hours earlier just to shove this concept in my face. If you need a mental image just picture this: me, barely conscious, frantically trying to commit this image to memory before I forget it forever while also doing my best to remain sleepy enough so I can get a few more hours of rest before the day starts. I only managed to successfully complete one of those two tasks.
Anyway, here's some lore:
Fluffy and generally of calm temperament, Mistica are creatures that are mainly bipedal but can walk on all fours if the mood strikes. All their paws have opposable thumbs, but only the front ones are long enough to allow them to grab things.
They have a pair of "wings" on their head that can gather natural magick in the air and store it for later use; Mistica without these wings can still gather magick but at a much slower rate, they also have problems controlling their spells.
Mistica weave spells and incantations by using songs, rhymes or mantras that they choose for themselves; these usually change as time passes. Every Mistica is also born with its own secret word which, if said out loud, can temporarily unlock a stronger version of their power; this word is a secret to them too until they hear it for the first time from the right person.
This word will activate their hidden strength only if it is spoken by their soulmate, though there are rare exceptions.
[Soulmates don't have to be romantic. Mistica can also have more than one soulmate, though not more than two, and cannot be replaced if they pass away (except for the rare cases where a deceased soulmate reincarnates during the Mistica's lifespan, we all love two partners meeting again in another life <3)]
