New Year, new red-line! Sorry for the long hiatus; but I'm a very busy person...
Anyways, let's hope right in!

To start off, your style is actually not bad and very cute. I personally think it looks like a cat, not a dog. However, if you want to draw more realistically, here are some pointers:

Ears are not so big and pointy. They are cone shaped and curl inward. Place them at the back of the head.
Foreheads are flat and lead right into the neck. The necks arch outward from the back of the skull, making the neck think but short.
From a side profile, their eyes are triangle shaped. Adding a tear duct can be a nice touch of realism.
Muzzles are teardrop shaped with broad noses. Every "section" is shorter then the last.
The jaw line always connects to the ears (on humans as well). The fur is pointed downward.
Whiskers are always good to add.

Sorry for this being shorter then some of my others. I personally don't see a huge issue with your cat style as is, but it is great you are wanting to improve!
