"This hound is breedable on DEC 29"

200 babyyyy

This hound is a Chimera! A Chimera occurs when, during pregnancy, two or more embryos merge
together and develop as a single organism. Essentially, this hound "absorbed" a littermate in the
womb early on, and thus has two sets of DNA that commonly result in a "split" appearance.

Here's some chimeric animals for further reference

Because this hound has two genetic makeups, either one has a chance of getting picked for breeding rolls.
(so you may get a pup from the black half, or you may get a pup from the merle half! surprises surprises)

Contest:
What was a notable experience this hound had while growing up? 1 art piece or 1500 words Max
You also get one extra; 1 art piece or 500 words Max
art can have titles/short captions, but nothing too long

Prettying up your form is encouraged! Interpret the prompt however you like

Ends January 5th 15th

PROMPT:
One notable experience from my past? That's difficult to say, since
I tend block out a lot of things major events that have happened to me.
One thing I haven't been able to block out, was the loss of both my two
brothers. That's something I could never forget, no matter how hard I try.
I will never escape the feeling of horror, and helplessness as I watched my
brothers take their last breaths.
I was always the most sensitive and loving out of family, I desperately
craved affection. However my mother died when I was young, so I was
raised by my distant father and rough older brothers. They were not
interested in showing me love, my father always busy with work and my
brothers thought I was too soft and that I needed to be toughened up.
Because of this my upbringing consisted of, almost exclusively, being
teased, beat on, and tormented. My father never stepped in.
I felt trapped.
All I had known was never ending pain, there was no joy in my life, my
brothers made sure of that. The violence towards me was only escalating
as my brothers got older and stronger, and I couldn't take the abuse
anymore. So I devised a plan. I thought if my brothers were gone, all my
problems would be fixed. So I decided I needed a way to make my brothers
go away.
My first plan hinged on my dad catching them destroying his property. My
father was very prideful of his collars and training toys, I honestly feel like
he valued those objects more then he valued his sons. The idea was while
he was gone at work, say I was sick and come home early from puppy class,
tear up his collar and any other items, have my brothers come home to the
mess with me asleep, and when my dad came home to blame it on my two
brothers. I figured he would believe me since I wasn't seen as temperamental,
however my brothers had a history of damaging things out of anger.
In the beginning the plan worked. I got home early, I was able to destroy all
of my fathers possessions without anyone seeing me. My brothers came home
to the wreckage and went to ask me what happened, when they found me
asleep they admittedly assumed someone else had done it since I seemed too
sick, and it would have made no sense for me to destroy my dads things.
However once my father came home, despite me pleading with him that it was
just my brothers who damaged his things, he blamed all of us. We were all
beaten as punishment.
I sat with this failure for a while.
I felt unable to get away from this torment. No matter what I had tried,
being nice, fighting back, telling on them, setting them up in hopes they would
be thrown out, nothing changed my situation. I felt that all other options
where exhausted. I decided that only extreme measures would work, they
needed to die.
I had hear our owners talking about how the mushrooms in the forest would be
toxic to dogs, and that they needed to be careful that we wouldn't eat any. For
the next couple weeks I carefully gathered an array of mushrooms and mushed
small amounts in my brothers food after they had eaten their fill and left the
bowl unattended for a bit. It wasn't even two days before they were
complaining of stomach aches and within a week they couldn't get out of bed.
I felt so proud.
I had finally taken control of my life, nobody was hurting me, my brothers were
now the weak ones.
I stopped adding mushrooms to their food, but their condition only got worse.
Our owners took them to the vet, however it had gotten so bad there wasn't
much the vet could do at that point, that was within our owners budget.
I was hit with the feeling of helplessness again. They could actually die? I didn't
honestly think my plan would work, none of my plans ever work. But now my
brothers are laid out before me, with my owner and father whimpering beside
them. The reality of it all set in, I started shaking and panicking.
My panic could not stop the flow of poison through their bodies.
They lasted two more days, before their hearts gave out. I forced myself to
watch every second of their decline as a way to punish myself.
However I have not stopped punishing myself for what I have done.

age:

prompt:
Messenger was considered a prized pup by her breeders. After genetic testing confirmed without a doubt she was chimeric, she was officially on the not for sale list. Her personality left much to be desired, though. Notoriously stubborn, she's known to sneak off to avoid training. And the zebras hated her, especially the mares. Messenger was not one to be pushed around. When she was only a few months old she sneaked off to show the zebras who was boss. She barked and tried to make them obey her commands to no avail. Fed up, she sank her teeth into the leg of a particularly ornery mare. The mare lashed out and through her into a dead bush, the jagged branches tore her skin and made her cry out. Once she'd manged to wriggle out of the bush, the mare was back to harm her again. She nipped her rear end and made the poor pup shriek. She bared and snarled, but was sure the mare intended to trample her to dust. Suddenly her own shrill yapping was replaced by a commanding boom of a bark. The mares ears flatted and she turned tail, bucking and causing a ruckus all the way. Messenger turned to see stern green eyes staring her down. She whimpered and cowered. She'd heard stories of this beast since the nursery. Omen. A rather large brute with a knack for causing disasters. He sniffed her gingerly and licked her wounds before taking her by the scruff. Messenger was sure she'd be lunch, or worse, but he sat her down under the shade of a tree and sat beside her. He gave a long, low howl as if calling for someone. Messenger found she could hardly open her eyes as she curled agaisnt his side. She woke in her own home, certainly in for a good scolding for tarnishing her pelt. She sought out the other hound the days following, but was unsuccessful. She was beginning to give up hope of finding the mysterious hound when he approached her one night at sundown. He lead her through the fields, the zebras staying far away. She yapped and jumped at the bugs in the grass, paying no mind to the stinging in her shoulder and rump. He comes to her almost every night, and they play with the bugs in the field and chase the night time critters about. Omens handler claims there is something eerily similar in the two hounds, and warned them to be careful. Of course Messenger has no idea what this means. She's only a dog after all. Omen on the other hand, he almost seemed to nod. He taught her more than her own handler has. They're main duty was nightly potrolling to keep the sneakier night critters away from the herds that hated the pair so much.

"there's a story they tell about dogs with your pelt, you know."
solace, who had been falling asleep by his mother's side, raised his head curiously.
his mother was a tall, sleek hound with a merle coat colored bleached blue. it was like his own, but not as dark, and lacking the spatterings of black that marked him unique from the other dogs in the sanctuary. her face was narrow and seemed to always rest in a disdainful expression.
he looked at her, patiently waiting for her to continue. she rarely, if ever, told stories, and when she did, they always revolved around how the outside world was a horrible, terrible place filled with death and barbarism, and they always ended in the young, foolish hero dying because of their mistakes. if this story was anything other than that, solace wanted to hear it.
