Valley of Kings-- #314

Postby MySpoons » Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:40 am

To adopt you must either have a founder and be level 1. Or, you can adopt this one as your founder!

This lion believes a lie someone told them. What was it, and how does that impact their life? 200-500 words, 1 extra allowed (can be 100 words, an art piece, or other???) ENDS the 12th of DEC at CS Rollover CST.

The Lie: Dune sat in the shade of a tree, resting after his meal. The sun was high in the sky, beating down on the savannah, but his tree provided a perfect place to rest.

Then a mottled brown lion came trotting over. Dune knew that Azure wasn't normally one to interact with other lions. Something must be wrong.

Dune stood up as Azure approached. "What is it?"

Azure sighed and locked gazes with Dune. His blue gaze was sympathetic. "I'm sorry to tell you, Dune, but your mother is dead."

Dune just stood there for a moment. "What?" he said.

"We just got word from the Kyrzi Pride that your mother, Akshet, has passed away. She fell into the river and was devoured by crocodiles."

It felt like the weight of the world was suddenly dropped onto Dune's shoulders. He stood still for a split second, then let out a wail and crumpled to the ground. "Akshet!" he cried, weeping.

Azure didn't seem all that empathetic; instead of staying to comfort Dune, he sauntered away toward a pretty lioness named Sekhmet.

Sekhmet was a beautiful lioness. She was the daughter of Yang, and beloved by the entire pride. Azure and Dune were both infatuated with her and wanted her to be his mate, but since there were two lions and only one lioness, a bit of a battle broke out. The two lions constantly tried to outdo each other and brought Sekhmet fabulous gifts of all kinds.

Dune wept into the ground until the sun set. As soon as the last ray of sunlight disappeared beyond the cliff, he stood up, determined to visit his mother's final resting site. He slunk out of camp, stealthily weaving his way between the trunks.

The one thing he didn't see was Azure, standing beside Sekhmet's den. There was a smirk on the blue-eyed lion's face, and he flicked his tail in Dune's direction before creeping into the den.

Extra:
A lion wanders
Searching for a lost mother
Seeking, not finding

The lion stumbles
Hopelessness engulfs his heart
He dares not go on

But he must go on
To find his perfect mother
The one who loves him

He pushes forward
A ray of sunlight seeps through
Swallowing the dark

Hope ignites inside
Giving the lion new strength
He continues on

Finally, a glimpse
Of a familiar face
Trapped in a prison

He struggles in vain
But she is still trapped inside
She tells him to go

The lion heeds her words
And returns back to his pride
With hope ignited
(ackkk is 104 words okay?)

Hupo was a foolish lioness, a direct result of her mother’s parenting. Being incredibly superstitious when she found out she was bearing cubs she immediately visited Mother Kilikina, a with doctor and herbalist.

Kilikina after many divinistion tests explained her findings to the expecting mother, her solemn face scaring Hupo. Kilikina explained how she would bear twins, and to be careful, the one that grew fangs (adult teeth) first held an evil soul. Hupo listened in terror of what that cub could become unchecked, a powerful and greedy monster before going off to prepare.

After giving birth to the two, Hupo loved them dearly and treated them equally. It concerned her that one was evil but they were so young now and she didn’t know which was which... she didn’t even name them yet.

However as soon as one outgrew it’s baby teeth and gained fangs she changed her parenting. The “evil” one she called Kualii and her “precious” one she called Kamalei. The two despite showing similar behaviors were treated differently and she all but shunned Kualii much to the cubs confusion. Any pride they traveled to she told of stories of how evil he was and as he grew up it seemed more believable as his piercing eyes unsettled many.

One day as an adolescent Kualii went up to Hupo to talk with her. She had refused to let him train with Kamalei and he wanted to know why. She told him everything then, how he was destined to be evil, how his soul festered and hungered. In fear, Kualii ran.

Worried about hurting his beloved brother or his pride he left. He didn’t feel evil. Did he? Each time he hunted he questioned if he did it for food or because some twisted part of him liked to hurt....

Kualii isolated himself and didn’t interact with another lion until the beginning of his adulthood. She was a lost lioness he helped in a storm with fur the color of a river fish.

It took much convincing and time for Kualii to realize he wasn’t inherently evil or cursed, that he could do good. With this new found ability to pave his own way he and the lioness decided to join a pride and reintegrate into a group environment. Kualii is not completely done with the strong feeling in his chest that he might hurt, or the sad feeling that destruction will befall them all but he is slowly learning. Each day he strives to be kinder, nicer, and more caring despite what he may believe.

One of these days a-coming, I'm gonna take that boy's crown

Cause I am, I am a little wicked
I am, I am
Hands red, hands red just like he said

I am a little wicked

No one calls you honey when you're sitting on a throne
