Dosada. That's the Raven's 'name'. Although, remember how your parents always warned you to not name animals, lest you get attached? That's sort of the case. Nikolaev, or Nik, views the avian as a pest. A plauge to get rid of. A hindrance in his everyday life, that threatens his serenity.
That has gotten the bird the name Dosada, or in english: Nuisance.
Now the why the raven follows him around, even after being chased, and frolicked off, or even almost bit by Nik is a mystery that only god may know the answers to. It's abnormal. This avian could fly away, maybe settle down, find a mate, raise some more screaming kids, for them to grow and do the same.
But it doesn't.
No matter the attempts at it's life, the begging for silence and peace from Nik, the annoyance of every being that listens to the daily,,,, hourly,,,,,, minutely,,, squawking, it will not leave Nik. Darwin would surely be awaiting the birds inevitable death, and common sense wonders where it went wrong! But the raven is still here. It still follows Nik every step he takes, of every day he lives.
This usually bids a dull, or even ominous, foreboding; as ravens are a symbol of bad luck, or even death. But for Nik, this is just everyday life.

Sometimes Nik even wonders if this is a punishment by some higher being, for what? He's not sure. Maybe it could be a test? Or maybe he's not really alive at all and this is here to annoy him into choosing a different plane of existance, be it heaven or hell, to reside.
Or, sometimes, he thinks its just an annoying ol' bird, who just won't leave him be.
Yeah, maybe that's it.

prompt: they're friends. Skelly found Raven (that's her name, he's unoriginal) when she was still a little egg. He dig her a little nest and made sure she was nice and warm until she finally hatched. Oh, that day may have been his most favorite day, she was so small, but also angry at everything. It rained? She screamed. It was too hot? She cried until Skelly brought some water. They've been through thick and thin together, and Skelly would do anything to protect her. Though, if you asked Raven, she did most of the protecting.

The raven is but a reminder of this Boer's fate; of a contract between realms. It is said that birds are messengers, able to carry souls to their final, eternal, rest. Well, ravens are dedicated to their task. When one is assigned a soul, it will wait patiently, never to allow their subject to forget what they have promised. The presence of the raven serves as a thread between the worlds, which, once spun, cannot be broken.


"I seek talent; beauty. All I desire is to know perfection, to share it with the world. I want to be remembered beyond my time."

The creature faced him, unchanged. It was of neither the dark nor the light, something that could not be named. Though without a body, it still appeared to have a form; or, rather, his mind perceived the impression of one. Its eyes, no more substantial than a suggestion, seemed to be searching the depths of his being.

When it spoke, it seemed to be both everywhere at once, and nowhere at all.

"Do you know the price of your ambition?"

Francesco bowed his head, his eyes remaining fixed on the being, "Nothing that you ask could dissuade me."

"Then you shall have your wish. But know this: once you accept my powers, you may not turn back. Your fate cannot be changed."

"I know my fate," he stated, "and I accept it."

As the words left his mouth, he felt the air change around him; out of the darkness came a bird, emerging like ink bleeding through the sky. It was weightless as it perched upon his back, yet it carried with it a sense of finality. Francesco knew now his purpose. He knew now that time was his only opponent.

Before him, the shape began to fade, returning to its own realm.

Its final words echoed as they filled his mind.

"A raven, to remind you of your promise; and to collect your toll when it is due."
