I joined the community shortly before the first anniversary event, and the staff team shortly after the second - it's been a wild and wonderful ride in between!

The elder tree is known for its flowers and berries - elderflower and elderberries are often used to help cure joint pain, to fight the flu, and boost the immune system!

To win this kalon, write about how they keep themselves from getting sick! You'll have a maximum of 500 words to answer the prompt.

I'll be judging this contest primarily on the creativity of your idea, but the development of your character is a big factor too! Feel free to pretty up your form if you'd like, but it won't affect my judging.

name; Eir, the name of the Norse goddess, epitomizes healing, mercy, and help.

how do they keep themselves from getting sick?; Eir used to collect different herbs around to old village home, but she soon realized that the herbs she had collected led to more infections and slower healing. She had always dreamed of being the Healer for her village, so she set off on a journey to find the perfect cure for the common illnesses and injuries. Her village was located in a cold region, so common colds, flus, and other illnesses weren’t uncommon.
One day, after two years of traveling, she came across a tree. The berries, flowers, and bright green leaves that adorned the trees branches made her eyes grow wide. She knew she had to test them, the aura that surrounded the tree called her in. The scent of the flowers left her mouth watering, although she knew they wouldn’t be edible. The berries were such a deep color, like an deep purple with a slight hint of ebony.
Eir carefully took some samples of berries, flowers, leaves, and even some bark before beginning her journey home. From there, she worked with different mixes. She crushed berries, ground flowers, and chipped the bark for many months before she finally found her perfect cure that she had searched for for years.
She cured many people, making the perfect cure for the common illnesses that plagued her home. That was, until a disease broke out. It would attack the main senses, starting with the eyesight. It would make their eyesight slowly fade until it would disappear. Then their hearing would go. And slowly, day by day their other senses would fade away until they were senseless. Then their lives would begin to fade.
Soon her entire village was infected. She had to leave. She took off, taking her herbs and Elderberries with her. She stopped by the Elder tree, taking more samples with her. She made sure to collect a plentiful amount of seedlings, hoping she could one day have a cure for the disease that wiped out her entire village.

It was a foggy morning in the homestead of Alberta. Aileen was the healer of the homestead, and everyone came to her when they were sick. Her place was overwhelmed by sick kalons, ranging from young to old, all having a virus that is wiping out the nation. But the way Aileen did to not get sick was to always carry around gemstones, those gemstones where Rose Quarts, Moonstones, Amber and Aquamarine. These gemstones help her from getting sick. Aileen has a little bag where she has tumbles of the rose quarts, moonstone, amber and aquamarine. tumbles are oval versions that are little almost an inch tall, but not exactly an inch. She then has a storage full of these gemstones and she passes them out and it helps the sick become more healthier and it cures them, or thats what Aileen always thought, for it kept her from getting sick. Aileen continues to heal in her homestead and she is very well respected.

Medella has suffered from close calls of illness too many times with her family, and worries for herself and others about any incoming illness. Usually, she studies traditional ways of cures for sickness. This includes tea made with herbs and ingredients to help with the throat, and advises healthy food to avoid getting sick, but these are just a few ways. Appointed as a medic for her current, small town in the countryside, she treats patients who come in to see her who are sick. Another piece of advice from her is to stay clean if you can, as this will prevent bad germs from affecting you. Medella spends her time studying plants, and symptoms of illnesses to see if she can find anything new, reading many books and wandering to find any herbs.
Speaking of herbs, Medella has found something strange. In an old book from the library in her town, there is a page that rumors of a white flower which grows rarely, and is said to heal any illness, no matter what. But, it is really rare! And it grows only every few years and can only be found in a short period of time...
Medella plans to study this plant, if she can find it, and is currently making plans to search for it, planning it as a gift to her town to help them if they ever need it.
They soon find out that the plant is protected away by a regal kalon deity of nature, who says that this flower is the last of it's kind.. Medella will have to find a way to convince the deity to give the flower to them, or a disease could roll in at any time and they wouldn't have a way to cure it..
( So, you know the new kalon, the rowan tree, well that's the deity...)
