You walk through many rows of cats in kennels before a tiny kitten catches your eye. You walk up to it, but it slowly backs away. You ask one of the staff members why it's backing away. What do they say?

Cat Name: Petunia
Cat Gender: Female
Cat Age: 3 Months
Prompt: The staff member sighed sadly. "Poor little Petunia here wasn't taken care of properly by her previous owner. He locked her, her mother, and her brother in a shed with very little food and water. The poor dears likely would have died if a neighbor hadn't found them and called us." The worker reached into her pocket, and pulled out two cat treats. She handed the cat treats to me, then said, "If you offer her a few treats, she might let you pet her." The worker smiled kindly, then walked away to help another potential adopter.
I looked down at the small kitten, hiding in the corner of her kennel and trying to make herself look as small as possible. I kneeled down, then carefully pushed one of the treats through the kennel mesh. The kitten's nose twitched as she caught the scent of the treat, and she moved a step closer. I smiled at her encouragingly, and she began slowly inching forward, staring up at me all the while. When she was close enough to the treat, she carefully lowered her head and devoured it in a single crunch. Petunia looked back up at me, her eyes silently begging for another treat. I held a few fingers through the mesh of the kennel, the second treat resting on them. Petunia eyed my hand warily, then seemed to decide that the food was worth the risk. She crawled closer, and gently removed the treat from my hand with her tiny teeth. She backed up a step, then crunched and swallowed it.
When she was finished eating, and had decided that I didn't have more treats to give her, the kitten moved to the back of the cage again and began daintily grooming her whiskers. I smiled, then stood up and sought out the worker I had spoken with earlier.
"May I adopt Petunia?"

Prompt: I was looking at the cats just to see if any caught my eye. There were a couple that did but then I saw a calico kitten. She was cute and fluffy. I came up to her cage to say hi but she backed away from me. I asked a staff member why and they said "She was found on the street and was still getting used to people. I was good with cats so I kept coming back to help the kitten to not be scared any more. After a week the kitten adored me and I just had to take her home.
